You know there's been tons of successful QB's who have ran read option right?

Some LSU fans live their college football life wounded bout one thing or the other. If you have a QB able to run the read option, it a very effective part of your run game. I don't look for LSU to give us a steady diet of the option.

Why people piss on 2 QBs who from 2010-2011 helped LSU to a 24-3 record is a mystery to me, but each to our own.

It's going to be an adjustment season, probably closer to 2010 than 2012. You'll see lots and lots of running.
I consider you a dumbass at laugh for that exact reason right there. The 2010 season was the worst season for an LSU QB in a long time. The 2012 season was terrible too considering the talent we had. We could only muster 12 TDs. RS Lee and true freshman JJ combined for 17 TDs and Hatch (a walk on/transfer) aided in 2 more himself) in 2008.
I have no idea why you think what transpired in 2012 was good in the passing game.
Is it because Crowton and Cam run similar offenses?
Is it because Jennings is JJ?
Is it because the IOWA game where he (true freshman in first start in bad weather conditions with a handcuffed gameplan against the #6 pass defense) looked as bad as Mett (RS junior with twelve prior consecutive starts, who had the whole playbook, in perfect dome conditions against an average defense) did against Clemson, or Florida (both years), or TAMU (2012)?
If you can't tell by now, the above was sarcasm. There is honestly no logical reason for you to believe we look ANYWHERE near 2010 with an entirely different cast of players, a new OC and QB coach, and not one, but 3 RBs who are very capable of dominating.
Ridley and Jefferson were our sole running game in 2010. We have Magee, Hilliard, Fournette, and Williams, that is A LOT better than what we trotted out in 2010.

With that kinda twisted thought process, the mystery becomes...who helps you tie your tennis shoes?
You do know a football offense has 11 members...right. LSU didn't win their 1st 13 games cause of the QB position and they didn't suffer their one loss cause of the QB position.
Get over it!

Holy shite. I'm the dumbass and you praise them for 24-3. Then when I counter with a record you bring in the entire offense. Do you even realize how ignorant and hypocritical that is?

What does 2008 and 2009 have to do with JL/JJ helping LSU go 24-3 in their last 2 yrs here???
You cant thank them for their efforts in their last 2 yrs here cause they loss 9 games in their 1st 2 yrs here??? Speaking of "ignorant", what sense does that make.
Both were mediocre SEC QBs, but they both also had their games in which they helped LSU to a 24-3 record, a undefeated SEC season, and an appearance in the BCSCG.
If the BCSCG is all that is important to u, so be it. I can look at the whole of their time here and say, "thanks for your efforts". If you cant, all I can suggest is that you need to let it go.

Mediocre QB's, yeah, I'll give you that, but don't leave out the lousy play callin on a very basic vanilla offense. And they still managed to win majority of games. Jefferson should have been in some type of spread read option type offense from the beginning because it suits his skills. Not pro style. Pro style was fine for when Lee was in the games, but otherwise no.

JJ was actually a pro style QB coming out of Destrehan, not a runner.

how the frick did this turn into a jj thread

Because there is still a significant number of butt hurt retarded lsu fans out there.
Posted on 2/20/14 at 9:48 pm to JJ27
Kid may have played some shotgun and drop back at Destrehan, but he definitely wasn't a pro style QB. He continues to struggle today tryin to play drop back. That awkard throwing style and all is hard to watch. My point is he could def run. I don't know what you were watching. He broke runs all the time at LSU taking it to the house sometimes. He would have been really effective in a read type offense either handing off to the RB or keeping it himself to run. He displayed quickness and ingenuity when improvising on the few keepers he did. So he def had a knack to run that type of offense.

er years of crappy offenses lead by an "option-style QB" we get a pro-style QB and finally our offense flourishes. Forgive me for cringing a little when I find out that we are abandoning what worked so well and going back to what mostly didn't work.
LSU hasn't run read option almost ever so not sure which qb you're referring to. JJ ran a few traditional option plays but LSU hasnt run option plays where you read the backside DE. The read option, specifically under cam, is going to be used to set up play action passing.
For QBs learning how to run his passing offense better, given their athleticism, the read option can bring them slowly along while accentuating their positives. Cam isnt going to make it an option offense anyway. I'm sure the read option will be a portion, not a whole. Anyone freaking out right now needs to calm the @#%: down.

LSU didn't win their 1st 13 games cause of the QB position

If you want to think our QB play was some kinda key factor in us going 13-0, knock yourself out. I disagree.

Say what?
I wish Rivers well and I feel that Jennings will be fine at QB. If our running game works and if our D can step up, we will have another fine season.

Yet, you've seem something that tells you this year will be different?
Do you know why they call posters here rantards? Because they insult when they can't find a way to correctly communicate their position, like you.
The 2014 season has a very good chance to be more similar to the 2010 season than the 2012. This isn't a stretch by any means.

In addition to Ridley (who is earning NFL paychecks) the 2010 team also had Ware and Ford, who are doing the same.
But, you do help make my point that running game will be the strong suite of the 2014 offense. Thanks.
