i do agree with this. crowton/miles did not put shep in a position to be successful last season, and we were not able to see what he was truly able to offer. i've just been watching some percy highlight on youtube lately though and i'm really starting to appreciate more and more what the guy did.

Yeah he reminds me more of DeSean Jackson. His running style is very different from Percy harvin

I think that Shep can and will do it. I personally think that Crowton just didn't know what to do with him(I am not bashing). Shep will get bigger and better. Just watch folks.

If only he gets a chance to get on the field

Athlets like Harvin come around once a decade or so. Really not fair to compare. Just ask any gator fan.

there are players comparable to harvin athletically, shep being one of them
now translating that ability to the football field and being as productive as he was, thats a different story

this is my thinking. shep will make his mark at LSU if the coaches give him the oppurtunity (which we still do not know will even happen), i just think harvin was a unique athlete in the perfect situation for him.

I use to think Trindon was the schnitz till I saw Harvin run. Totally different style with totally different results. I still haven't seen enough of Shep to judge.

5-11, 192 at 4.4 isn't all-decade athletisism in any way

First, excellent thread. Kudos.
I know, I know, we can't trust Miles (or Crowton, esp. when it involves Shepard, but yesterday Miles went to great lengths to announce RS will "officially" be a WR and, sometimes, at RB. Miles, as far as he wants, added that Shep's no longer a QB (though he kinda left the door open for him to take direct-snaps on ocasion).
Miles also said the goal is to have RS on the field on every down, regardless of the situaion. That leaves him w/very little wiggle-room if this doesn't happen (unless RS has a real injury and not the ones Miles invents). Also, having him return kicks will be great, IMHO.
This is why, despite those folks here who are convinced the Spring Game is meaningless, I want to see Shep at WR/RB/KR (even if it is a glorified and more organized practice).

Harvin was much stronger than Shep coming out of high school. Shep needs to add muscle.

Well, I would expect any Gator fan to feel that way. After all, he was a star for your team (which was probably the best of the decade). also, you guys got to see him play every down in his career and we didn't.
There were though, lots of other players who were great in just half of the decade: D. Hester, D. McFadden & F. Jones, A. Petersen, R. Bush, Ingram, Slaton & White, Crabtree, C. Williams, C. Benson, V. Young, D. Jackson, K. Moreno, M.D. Jones, McCluster, etc. I defintely put Harvin in w/those guys for sure.
