Why do you people keep saying stuff like this? Have not seen coverage of Bama's secondary? They are very, very good, and picking them over LSU's, while maybe not to your liking, is not even close to a stretch.

The argument can/should be made that Alabama hasn't seen a WR/TE crew like LSU's before this season.

There is no way Bama has three first rounder in the backfield. No matter though anyway you slice gonna be a beatdown Nov 5th. We beat Bama last year when they had Mccelroy Ingram and richardson. This year I think we are better by leaps and bounds no way Bama will stay on the field with us.

Offensive Line - Alabama

Too close to call - LSU may be a little better pass blocking, Bama run blocking, but too close to call.

Wide Receivers - LSU

Yeah, but just slightly. Our guys are great athletes with stone hands.

quote:

Running Backs - Alabama

Yeah, but again, this advantage is not as big as is generally thought - we have 3 guys as good or better than Lacy, and, while TR is (with Lattimore out) the best RB in the SEC - Ware is in the same class - TR is a little harder to tackle and more of a breakaway threat, but for the types of offenses these teams run - this one is close.

Tight Ends - Even

Yeah, it's a trend.

quote:

Defensive Line - LSU

Probably closer than people think, too - LSU plays a 4-3 and Bama a 3-4. Our starters are a little better - our real advantage is from our 2-deep, all of them can play.

quote:

Linebackers - Alabama

Yeah, and you play 4 of them - the strongest part of Bama's defense and the weakest part of LSU.

quote:

Defensive Backs - Alabama

Out of your freakin' mind, dude. Just out of your mind - LSU has 6 or 7 DBs that will play in the NFL. Maybe the advantage to LSU is slight, but advantage LSU.

quote:

Special Teams - LSU

Yeah, but on coverage only and kicking for scores only. Returns are probably a push.

quote:

Coaching - Even

Yeah - with it skewed LSU offensive coaching ever so slightly with and edge, and Bama ever so slightly in defensive coaching - those cancel each other out, so, yeah, even.

Home Field - Alabama

In this particular series, Home Field is effectively negated, or perhaps even skewed. Home teams are 4-10 (with a sole tie slipped in there in '85 at Tiger Stadium) over the last 30 years.

Y'all keep saying this, but Lacy has outrushed Spencer Ware so far. (I know, the suspension.)

I'm as diehard LSU as they come, but sometimes you just have to give credit.

Kirkpatrick and Barron are definite first rounders. Lester may also get in first round. Bama is also very deep at DBs.

I would say DBs are a push. TM7 is not that good of a cover corner and Bama does have really good DBs. The difference is that Bama dbs will have to play much better bc of the advantage that we have at qb and wr. For anyone that thinks bama doesn't have an advantage at rb, they need to take their goggles off. Richardson is by far the best rb in the country.

Claiborne will be the first CB taken next year. Reid will go in the first round in 2013. Taylor is a mid-round pick at safety next year. Mathieu is a special case because of his size, but someone will give him chance - playmaker - no 2 ways about it. Brooks, Loston, Simon all have NFL potential.

At Work - You said LSU will beat down Alabama - based on what? LSU is giving up a lot more rushing and passing yards.

Against a lot better offensive teams.

Oregon is a top-5 offensive team.. after facing LSU.

I explained my basis in the original post I am basing my opinion from the game last year and the progression/regression of both teams.

gfunk - You obviously are an idiot and stupid to go with it. Alabama has 2 DBs that will go 1st round and possibly three. What would make you think we only have one running back? Bama has Richardson, Lacy and Fowler. Some posters on this board try to have civil conversations and opinions, then a complete moron (you!) screw it all up.

You know what, you're right. You were trying to have a civil discussion. So, let me humble myself & apologize.

YellowHammer59, seriously, I want to apologize that I tried to have a discussion with someone so stupid. I won't make the mistake again.

According to whom?
I'd call the DBs a push, with LSU having a SLIGHT edge because of depth of talent. Don't say something absurd like you have 3 first rounders in your defensive backfield and not have anything to back it up.

Non biased opinion...

O-Line - Alabama
Wide Receiver - LSU
Running Back - Alabama (although I think LSU has more depth and capable running backs as a whole)
Tight Ends - I don't know enough about Alabama's to say
Quarterbacks - LSU
Defensive Line - LSU
Linebackers - Alabama
Defensive Backs - LSU
Special Teams - LSU - huge advantage with the punter
Coaching - Push

I like threads like these BUT you can't compare one against the other.

For example: it would be LSU OL vs Bama DL, Bama secondary vs LSU WR. I think we should break it back down like that.

It's hard to say if LSU has an advantage over Bama at QB when both qb's are average and facing elite secondaries. Neither have faced much adversity so it's gonna be interesting to see.
