Yep. The job that the bama db's did at stopping the run was as impressive as I've seen. I thought a few licks they put on LF changed the way he ran the rest of the season. They totally sold out a couple times and just basically sacrificed their bodies. Ferocious hits. I can't recall if it was their nickel or safety that shot in a couple times and rocked him but it set the tone of he game. Running the ball against Bama is not about LF. It's about everyone else on offense doing their job with attitude. I think we will be more prepared for this mentally

I pointed this out earlier today. Bama linebackers were very quick to fill gaps last year. LSU misfired on two wide open passes to Fournette that would have gone for big gains. If Etling is able to hit a few plays in the middle of the field off play action, fournette may find a few running lanes that were not there in the last match up.

If they are using 7 to stop the run, then the opportunity is for passes to the vacated lb zones. We have been unable to do that for years including mett whose strength was deeper, 15-25 yds.
They have been able to play run and let us pass, which we have not been able or unwilling to do . Make 5-8 yd passes, a screen, throw to rb's and then they cannot just think run.
That is the key, which by the way is exactly how Saban coaches now and when he was at LSU
