Coming to my first LSU Football game, suggestions?

My buddies and I are making a trip from NC to check out big time football against Tenn. We are going to the Saints/Panthers game on Sunday. Any suggestions on where we should go for pregame? We will have a rental car so I doubt we will be able to tailgate...we will probably look for a bar to hang out in before the game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

you can find a tailgate... dont go to a bar. Its not the same. Half the game is before the game

Which game are you asking for advice?

When your alarm goes off in the morning drink a beer. By the time you are finished with your shower you should have two empty beers. Cans or bottles are fine, either way. Grab a third for the road on your way out the door. Park as close to the stadium as you can get, and start following the people. Stop at the first tent you see that has all of the following: beer, tv, food (if they have breakfast going they're legit), and close to a bathroom. Then this is the important part say the following: "Hello my name is __________, I'm from NC and this is my first LSU game."
Voila... all your problems are solved instantly.

Wear some jersey's that indicate you are from out of town.
People will tiger bait you. Take it all with a sense of humor. Approach a tail gate and say, "we don't do this back home."
You will be in like Flyn.

Perfect advice. If you approach the LSU tailgaters with humility, you will have a friend.

Park somewhere on the east side of campus by the lakes. Get there early (by 10 or so if it is a night game). Parking is free.
Head to the parade grounds and walk around and just meet people.
Make sure and go down to the north stadium entrance and catch the band coming down and the players entrance.

No bars. Walk around. People will welcome you to their tailgates.
LIke was already posted, half the game is before the game. That's when the fans prepare.

All of the info so far is good....no need for bars at all...just get to campus as early as you can after breakfast and hang out...you should get plenty of offers of food, if you just be nice and tactfully let people know that you are not a regular at the games....basically, just pick a group that looks fun and make conversation...there is also typically jambalaya and other thing for sale around the stadium if you don't feel comfortable eating with others...
on lsusports.net, there will be a gameday schedule that tells times of all of the major festivities that will occur...don't miss a minute of it...
sounds like an epic weekend to me, so don't get too drunk and ruin some of it...

Yesterday wouldn't have been too early if you want something close to campus.
