1. Because they haven’t learned that rule. Change for the sake of change is not always good (or possible) but young people will always try. It’s not necessarily a bad thing that they try. Many of life’s lessons are learned in real time and not by advice.
2. Because they haven’t learned the value of a “standard”. Some may not even know what that is to begin with.
Dad (LSU ‘55) always said, “some kids have to learn lessons for themselves. And that’s not always a bad thing.” How right he was.
