I hope we don't come out with 8-yard gaps for the option.

If there's one thing Gary Crowton does almost better than anyone else is set up a defense by running a series of plays designed to expose a vulnerability he can exploit for a touchdown at the right time.

So true. Against UGA we had one of these set up perfectly on a play action screen pass, but Jefferson misfired.

Being a bit dense today - but what exactly is the reference to MSU/Mullen here?

I think he means that Meyer and Mullen will TALK!

I typed yards when I meant feet, proving again the value of a good copy editor. But, I didn't mean to come across as too literal on the pitch out. There is a point where the gap is too much, but with LSU it is often too little to be effective.

I will edit that for clarity when I get back to my computer. Thanks for catching that.

Urban doesn't have Anthony Dixon, aka Tim Tebow, at full strength. I don't think they will be able to pound the ball like they did against us.

This will be a thinking man's game, and it has to be played that way for LSU to win.

Uh oh.

We better throw up on them early and often.

I wrote about streamlining the playbook a couple of weeks ago.

Also, while I'm here, let me forward this information from CBS:

CBS COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK’s THE TONY BARNHART SHOW, a new weekly one-hour primetime college football talk show, features political commentator Bob Beckel and CBS Sports’ lead college football announcers Gary Danielson and Verne Lundquist to preview the LSU-Florida match-up on Tuesday, Oct. 6 (9:00 PM, ET).

“Mr. College Football,” Tony Barnhart hosts the show along with Brian Jones. The hard-hitting program will debate and analyze the hot topics and issues facing college football both on and off-the-field. This week Barnhart and Jones look at the excessive-celebration rule as well as the possible reinstatement of Oregon’s suspended running back LaGarrette Blount.

Throughout the season Barnhart will invite a variety of high-profile guests from the college football community, including coaches, administrators, writers, broadcasters and former players to the program. The distinguished guests will offer in-depth, lively, opinionated, topical discussions on the world of college football.

The TONY BARNHART SHOW will air each Tuesday throughout the college football season at 9:00 PM, ET. Mike Aresco serves as Executive Producer. Tyler Hale and Stefan Van Engen produce.

I can agree with everything but simplify the playbook. I think it has been boring and too predictable thus far.

I agree. Cox was reading the D like an open book. He knew exactly what they were bringing on every play after half time.

Is there ANY chance you could be hired as an asst coach this week? Probably not. You make too much sense.

Great post Carl. If it is going to be a "thinking man's game", we could be in trouble if the Mad Hatter thinks too much. Either way, I think we win.

SHEP to throw it..

he's been baiting defenses with this play every week... and i honestly think this is the game he pulls the trigger..
