Collegiate Conferences are Tax Exempt, Speaker Johnson….

And Scalise it’s time to take away this exemption as conferences generate billions in revenue. The athletes are professional now and the exempt status tied to education of the school is long gone.
The liberals have never met an exempt removal they won’t support and every conference in America will rightly blame Sankey for his vendetta forcing congress intervention.
The SEC can issue threats to LSU, turnabout is fair play.

They should all be removed based solely on the amount of money the Media contracts bring in.
Reality is that the Athletic Departments should also no longer be tax-exempt, and players should be taxed for their scholarship value now, as well as their NIL/revenue sharing.

Yes, but each of the 32 teams pay corporate and state business taxes.
Sankey would be out today if Congress floats this trial balloon and SEC would back down on everything.

Not anymore. Google says the NFL voluntarily gave up its tax exempt status in 2015 to calm down public criticism and to avoid having to make public disclosures of executive compensation. Previously the league office was tax exempt, acting as a pass through to distribute revenue shares to the individual teams. Teams always were taxable businesses.
NHL and PGA appear to be the only major sports league offices still operating as tax exempt.

Yeah just what I want… the government to tax the SEC only to piss it away. Horrible idea. Even if the SEC can be a waste I would rather the government have less money.

Have you seen how bloated the SEC office is with personnel? Not to mention Sankey’s $5M salary while he prevents Harris and Wright from earning a living. He is screwing these children over.

Like I've said from the outset.... LSU is like Michael Corleone...... he's allowing the 'bad seeds' to react emotionally, not thinking about all the possibilities -- so that he can take them out.
Sankey and Co. really got WAY too emotional on this --- and didn't step back to consider ALL possibilities of retaliation or blowback.
This should be grounds to have him removed for cause -- as he's endangering the conference to future lawsuits and financial losses.

History repeating itself self.Back in the mid 60s Louisiana had the most powerful politicians in Washington ,Hale Boggs,Ellender ,Russell Long.Pete Rozelle ,then NFL commish wanted a antitrust agreement so the NFL would be protected from opposition.The LA.powers that be said sure we will vote your way ,oh buy they way there will be a franchise in New Orleans won’t there.Same way now ,Johnson ,scalise threatening the SECs tax exemption status.Thats how you play the game,CHECKMATE!
