re: Collegefootball News Full SEC Previews out.....Prediction LSU 9-3

Collins, while talented, is probably our #7 or 8 lineman this season. It's plainly ridiculous to rank him in our top ten players for 2011.
I hate the "close wins" argument as it plainly ignores the underlying numbers. As a predictive measure, teams that won a lot of close games will regress. That is true. But look at LSU's close wins -- they dominated those games in nearly every statistical measure.
LSU outgained Florida, Tenn, and WVU by nearly two to one margins. For predictive purposes, these games were blowouts (yardage is more reliable predictor of future success). UNC had a furious fourth quarter comeback against a defense that let up off the gas. LSU's close games weren't as close as you think, and LSU was extraordinarily UNLUCKY to be in close games on the scoreboard.
That said, Tennessee scares me.

Ignorant prediction all around.

So you and booky are the rantards in this thread?

This prediction has Moo State beating both Alabama and LSU, but then only going 8-4. No consistency, this prediction is a joke.

PLUS its a Thurs night game @ MSU.
Could someone explain to me why MSU is going to play so much better than LSU because the game is on Thursday?

we couldn't do it in 06 or 07. Those were better LSU teams playing against easier schedules IMO.
See, it works both ways.

I actually agree with the Tenn and Bama losses.
No way MissSt beats LSU, though. The only time MissSt will have a chance against LSU is if it's some kind of weird game (morning kickoff, sandwich game between Auburn/Florida, something abnormal where LSU might be overlooking State). LSU isn't going to "overlook" miss st on a primetime thurday night game as LSU's first SEC game of the year.
MissSt needs to catch LSU with its pants down, and this aint the year. LSU will be very focused for its SEC opener at primetime on a Thursday night. Hell, MissSt hasn't been able to beat LSU even in those years that we've overlooked them ... they don't stand a chance in a year like this one where LSU has that game circled.

Losses at State and Bama....not Tenn

One lost SEC game don't matter to who, win the SEC Championship and we are off to the National Title Game

9-3 is very possible ... but those three? Come on CFN!
In order of difficulty:
at Bama
vs. Oregon
at WVU (this will be very hard IMHO)
vs. Arkansas
at Miss St.
The rest of the league games are a wash in terms of difficulty.

Won't happen. With 2 other undefeated teams, a one lose SECC will not make the NC.

here are just as many ignorant LSU fans who actually think LSU will go 12-0 or 11-1.
I think we have a better chance of going 11-1 then 9-3. We will not lose to the VOls.

Agree. JJ deserves zero confidence, and everyone outside of LSU sees this. I am hoping he proves everyone wrong.

Unless one of those is Boise.

LSU is losing a MINIMUM of 2 games this season. Can't spell Les Miles without TWO L's. I"m actually expecting 8-4 or 9-3. Our schedule is much more difficult than last year and I fully expect Jefferson to continue to stink it up.

I'm tired of hearing about Moo State being our big "trap" game every year. Yet, we typically beat the hell out of them. I don't get it? They have a bunch of 2 star guys and, other than Vandy, are probably the least talented team in the SEC year end and year out. But, we continue to hear all the "experts" here predict a "trap" loss to them every year. Pick another 'trap" loss and be original.

I agree with one sentiment in that piece. Falling short of winning the SEC this season would be a failure. Finishing third in the SEC West would be an abject failure.

I hope a coach posts this list
but waits until right before the Miss State game.
