What were we in 23’ #5?

2023 - 3rd place finish in the SEC. 19 SEC wins (we only had 10 loses. One got canceled). Vandy also had 19 SEC wins. #5 national seed.

Let's hope the similarities continue throughout the rest of the year.

I totally agree with you. But I’m greedy. I want all of them, and would have loved at least one of the following:
Texas
Arkansas
South Carolina
Texas AM
All four could have been a W. Any of the four and we are 20-10 and be a sure sure top 8 lock.

Nope. Tigers should be seeded ahead of Vandy.
Both 19-11 innSEC, but LSU has ax better record vs COMMON SEC opponents, 10-8 to 9-9. Common opponents were Arky (LSU, 2-1; V, 0-3), A&M (1-2; 3-0), Auburn (0-3; 1-2), Bubba (2-1; 2-1), UO (3-0; 1-2), & Tenn (2-1; 2-1).
When mentioning LSU played Mizzou and Pulmonary, you conveniently didn’t mention LSU played Texas, but Vandy didn’t.

#3 in the SEC means we are a lock. Sure one of those wins and we are a sure fire top 4 seed but you can play that same game with our close wins which we've had plenty

But Vanderbilt didn't get to play South Carolina either. It will be interesting to see where the seeds fall.

Every team has this argument. This is dumb

Well LSU's strength of schedule is 33, Vandy is 2.

I haven't watched much of Vandy this year, so I don't have a strong opinion of how good Vandy actually is. Just looking at numbers alone, Vandy seems to be ahead. It's splitting hairs though, both should be top 8's.

I must throw a wrench into everyone’s underwear. I don’t think the committee is going to give one conference over half the national seeds. Bad for business. If Southern Mississippi wins their conference tournament they will host.

When you say national seed do you mean top 8, or top 16? There is no world where the SEC doesn't get half of the top 8. And I'm not sure why USM is in this. They aren't getting a top 8.

They did it. Literally last year lol. Southern Miss is behind the 8 ball with Coastal already in their conference who will be hosting. I don’t see two Sunbelt schools hosting but who knows.

There is zero chance they are a top 8 seed. They SOS is 70 and RPI is 23. The Sun Bt RPI rank is #9.

Everyone is pretty much in agreement that the SEC will get 5 of the Top8 seeds. The conversation is ….”will the SEC get 6?”

SOS is nice, but wins mean more. Overall LSU 42-13; Vandy 39-16.
LSU also has a better record against common SEC opponents. Edge to the Tigers.
And I like and follow Vandy as my second favorite team, after the Tigers. Special when a team has three straight SEC home games in which they trailed going into the bottom of the 9th and walked all 3 off with home runs (Bama, Ky, Ky).

LSU is a top 8 seed. There really isn’t anything to worry about at all. If they aren’t the system is flawed

I put the top 8 contenders (removed UCLA and Coastal) listed in top 11 based on RPI, SOS, quad 1 wins, Q1+Q2 wins, bad losses (q3+q4), and conference wins alone. Kind of gives a picture of exactly where each is at.

RPI

1. UGA (1)
2. Auburn (2)
3. Vandy (3)
4. Texas (4)
5. Arkansas (5)
6. Oregon St (6)
7. UNC (7)
8. LSU (8)
9. Clemson (11)
10. Oregon (12)
11. FSU (14)

SOS

1. Auburn (1)
2. Vandy (2)
3. Georgia (5)
4. Arkansas (13)
5. Texas (15)
6. Clemson (18)
7. FSU (29)
8. UNC (31)
9. Oregon (33)
10. LSU (34)
11. Oregon St. (39)
