Don’t lose the series against a bad SCe team. May just give the Committee an excuse to give a top 8 seed to a West Coast team instead of LSU.

I think the SEC gets 4 seeds
The ACC gets (at least) 2
A West coast team (Oregon St, UCLA, etc) will get 1 or 2

No way. You could make an argument for putting 1 west coast team, but even 1 won't be a good argument. No way they get 2. 2 ACC is certainly possible, but they will have to play themselves into it.

Tennessee has Arkansas and the SEC tournament. They are on the outside looking in, but have the ability to change that.

UCLA has 20 conference wins. If they sweep Northwestern and get to 23, they’d probably get a top 8.

Oregon is a very good team, and a top 8 team in my opinion. Their RPI is being held down by their 10 Q3/Q4 losses (24-10). They only have 3 Q1/Q2 losses (13-3).

Conversely, Oregon State’s RPI is inflated because they only have 1 Q3/Q4 loss. I don’t know how 100% of their games being non-conference influences the RPI.

The west could easily get 2, but highly doubt they get 3. They can’t give both Oregon State and Oregon a national seed, the mental gymnastics and explanation of how they arrived at that conclusion would be ridiculous.

UCLA will probably get one and if the committee values RPI, Oregon State gets the other. If they don’t Oregon could get it. Oregon is playing really well right now, won 11 of their last 12 games including a 4 game sweep of Oregon State. Oregon is deserving in my opinion.

You way off.

1 gets us a Top 8 seed

2 gets us a Top 4

a sweep might get you a Top 2

Hell if we get swept i think we get a Top 8

Maybe... but it would be a lot cooler with a sweep...

The national baseball “experts” LOVE LSU & have them ranked at a much higher spot than most tRanters seem to. It would be great to win/sweep the USCe series but I don't think it’s necessary.

Short of a monumental collapse:
Getting swept by USCe
Losing out on being a T4 SECT team
Losing their 1st SECT game
I think LSU is already a Top 8 National Seed

LSU is getting a top 8 spot barring a total collapse at USCe

A collapse is in the realm of possibility with how cold our bats get for long stretches, unfortunately.

IMO, Texas and Arkansas are locked in from the SEC

Why are so many people sure Ark is a LOCK for a Top 8. They’ve lost 4 of their last 5 SEC Series but simply due to them sweeping Texas at home they’re a Top 8 Lock???

Now they may well end up a Top 8 but if they lose the Tenn series this weekend that’ll be them losing 5 of their last 6 SEC series to end the season. I don’t see a team that ends the year on a skid like that getting a Top 8 from the committee - IMO.

Yeah it’s a road series. LSU is 5-7 on the road currently in the SEC and 1-5 in their last 2 series. They’ve won only one road series.

The Gamecocks are bad, but if you’re not at least a little concerned about losing this series, you haven’t been watching this team.

I’ve watched South Carolina enough over the last 4 weeks to tell you they are the WORST team in the sec. They can’t pitch, field or hit. Especially pitch.

To put Oregon in the top 8 they would have to put them above teams with a higher RPI and SOS. Also Oregon would have more than double the quad 3 and 4 loses of the teams they would be placed ahead of combined, and less quad 1 wins.

Yeah, 100%. They don’t deserve a top 8 seed because you can’t ignore the quad 3 and 4 losses. But I do think they are currently one of the top 8 teams in the country, not Oregon State. RPI has those teams swapped in my opinion.

If you think SC won’t be pumped with adrenilin for LSU you don’t follow college sports. They will play their best series of the year.Number 1coming to town their coaches old team will have them focused.College sports are about emotions from week to week and if the tigers come out flat it could get interesting.

I follow college sports, and no I don’t think this will be what you’re making it out to be. Half the team is hurt, they have 1 SEC series win, lost their last 7 SEC games, and got swept 5 times (6 if you include their Clemson series).

If Tennessee sweeps Arkansas that would put them at 18 SEC wins. They win 2-3-4 in the SEC tournament and they are over 20 wins.

Do I think they will accomplish sweeping Arkansas? No. But they are a very good team. Arkansas has lost a lot recently. And if they do somehow manage that then they will absolutely be in the discussion. They can't be totally counted out yet, but they have serious work to do, and may need help along the way. But I felt they were worth including.
