Figured. I saw Tulane was throwing a guy with a really low ERA. Is he normally their midweek or one of the weekend guys to try and pull one from us? Haven't kept up much the last week...thanks.

I think he's their midweek starter.

We have 2 huge series one at home against A&M and oneon the road against South Carolina I think we will find out a lot about this club during those two series

he is their regular midweek guy...

Duester's outings:

@ Southeastern
5.0 ip, 5 h, 0 r, 0 er, 1 bb, 3 k

vs UNO
6.0 ip, 3 h, 0 r, 0 er, 3 bb, 3 k

@ Nicholls
6.0 ip, 4 h, 0 r, 0 er, 2 bb, 7 k

@ Southern Miss
2.2 ip, 5 h, 7 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 1 k

vs Southeastern
5.2 ip, 7 h, 2 r, 0 er, 2 bb, 5 k

@ UC Riverside (relief)
1.0 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 0 er, 0 bb, 1 k

TOTAL: 3-1, 0.34 era, 26.1 ip, 26 h, 9 r, 1 er, 9 bb, 20 k, .274 baa, 1.33 WHIP

Duester throws upper 80s mostly, low 90s. Does have downward movement and draws a lot of ground balls with that and his slider. Has pretty good command. Had some defensive struggles behind him allowing 9 total runs but only 1 has been earned. Really labored his last 3 outings and has had to pitch from the stretch a ton.

Cool. Seems like a pretty good pitcher that has had some unfortunate defense behind him. Hasn't gone past 6 innings so I guess that could be good; although, it seems their entire staff is pretty solid on the mound.

His BAA is like .275 and his WHIP is around 1.3.

He's not dominating people. How he's managed to keep runs from crossing is a testament to him getting out of jams i guess. But he isnt cruising through innings.

Gotcha. Sounds like teams couldn't string it together a handful of times. Seems like he's about due to have one of those games where maybe a few more hits are put together in the same inning.

even if you ignore the runs/earned runs in the last two starts he still gave up 6 baserunners on his own (either hits or walks) in 2.2 and 9 baserunnres in 5.2 innings.

Lot of traffic on the basepath. WHIP of 1.80 in last 2 starts. That's flirting with disaster. Especially against a team like LSU.

Yeah he has really struggled his last few starts. LSU won't take this game lightly like they may have some other midweeks. Plus we lost to them last year there so that's a little extra kick. If Reynolds can go 4-5 only allowing 1-2, then I'll feel pretty good.

I know we've had our share of early games already, but nothing that early, at least not during the week. Is it weather-related?
