Facts aren't necessary in the context of this discussion. Only completely made up, unverified analysis.

I think this team can be very good. They have a great chance to be one of the best teams in the country. But a large reason for that is the pitching staff. I would like to see this team bail out a pitcher one day if we have a subpar performance on the mound. Let's win some games 8-7 or 10-8. This lineup has that ability to do that. But we can't have games like Friday night with double digit hits producing few runs.

I like how I was told me bringing pitching in this conversation is irrelevant and now we are talking about winning games 8-7 and 10-8. We have given up more than 3 runs in a game twice this season. One of those 2 games was a win (6-5) and the other was a loss and the starter was a kid that is no longer in our weekend rotation. We have a team ERA of 1.91. Third in the conference. We aren't going to be giving up 8 runs a game very often.

It's baseball. It's going to happen. If you were such a student of the game you would know this.

Don't...this conversation will probably just spill over into it. No need to ruin a game thread

Nola gave up 4 runs in 6 innings plus a career high 3 walks against BYU and the tigers pulled that one out for a 6-5 final. This day and age with the bats, this is the norm. That was a bail out.

I've forgotten what this thread was about. I'll have to set the way-back machine for page 1.

I'll recap...

We are in the top 5 in 6 polls and the top 10 in the other.

Yes it was, and one of my quotes from above came from that game. I thought that was the best moment of the year so far. We came from behind to win a game after our ace had a rough inning.

As for this statement

We have a team ERA of 1.91. Third in the conference. We aren't going to be giving up 8 runs a game very often

But we will give up runs at some point, and it a well rounded team will be able to score runs to match the opponent. (Please don't make me give an example of this)

Right, but we aren't going to win every game. Your comments in this thread act like we have to be able to win every single game all year long or else we have no shot to compete for Omaha.

In baseball things have to go your way to be able to get to Omaha, i.e. Stony Brook. They just got hot at the right time to be able to make an historic run to Omaha.

The bottom line is that LSU has all the necessary tools in order to make a run for Omaha. They have a lineup that can produce runs from top to bottom. They have a legit leadoff man and a legit, run producing 3 hole hitter. We are hitting for a little power this year. We run the bases very well. Scored from first on a double the other day and lots of first to third on singles.

We have one of the best 1-2 punches in the country with Nola and Eades and now we have a lefty that can throw in the low 90s to pitch on Sundays. The bullpen is pretty solid with Cotton, Rumbelow, Bourgeois and LaMarche.

Anything can happen in baseball. We might make it to Omaha and we might not. We definitely have the ability to get there along with a lot of other teams.
