I agree with this. And if I had that car as a 17 year old I most likely would have wrecked it at some point for this exact reason.

No you made a statement that he “likely” accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

And that's my speculation, which is just as valid as everyone else saying he was "likely" drunk

What is "too much power"?how do you know he is "relatively inexperienced"? Are you his father or something?

Yeah dude you're a real rarity and treasure here in SE LA.

No one who matters is piling on the guy. He doesn't need you(whoever you think you are) to white knight for him.

For a teenager, something 300 HP and above

ETA: for a sedan/coupe for the pedantic

He's 17 years old, so I'm going to assume he has a little less than my 16 years of driving experience.

I'm simply reiterating the facts and stating my speculation of what happened based on the currently known facts.

come on now, speculating that someone who ran into a tree in a single car crash at 2:45 am was drunk isn't much of a leap.

Maybe he wasn't impaired, and we all hope that's the case, but it's not a stretch for reasonable people to immediate think DUI.

He wouldn't be stoned after the crash so it would be pretty easy to tell if he was stoned during or before the crash

I also don't think it's much of a leap for someone to lose control of a RWD car on a wet road, and hit the wrong pedal from a combination of panic, lack of experience, and fatigue.

People are basing those off of pictures of him at a bar that night wearing the same hoodie that he posted on his Instagram story earlier in the day, along with a bartender saying that he was watching him take shots. You are basing your speculation on the fact that you have driven a car in the rain before...

I'll agree to disagree on this.

No one asked or cares what your experience is compared to his. There are plenty of 30 year old who have no business on the road.

I don't know why you're being hostile about suggesting someone who's been driving for a maximum of two years is relatively inexperienced.

So again, a picture of him just standing there, not drinking

along with a bartender saying that he was watching him take shots
And just words from an unnamed source, not proof.

Let the toxicology report come out first.

People get in car wrecks because of weed? I have smoked weed most of my life. I take a puff most days. I’ve never gotten a traffic citation because of it and I do t know anyone that has been in a wreck because of it. The kid is 17 and a qb at LSU and y’all are honestly acting like he wasn’t impaired at 3 am. Hilarious. Probably drunk. If people are somehow offended at the notion of a 17 year old likely being drunk behibd the wheel during an accident it’s their problem to deal with those fragile feelings. Not anyone else’s.

we're just putting the pics and videos together of him at murphys bar on west chimes with a 2:45am single car wreck, hitting a tree. murphys bar is like a half mile from where the wreck occurred.

at some point you have to just admit it doesn't look good and he was very likely intoxicated.

You're the one that seems hostile at even the suggestion that your vast 16 years driving experience is not the be-all end-all of this matter.

As a QB he a absolutely has the skills to drive probably better than anyone on this board, including you the evident Jeff Gordon reincarnation.

It'll come out. I'm just saying that's a lot better reasoning than "I've driven a car in the rain before so I know what likely happened"

this is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read on this board and that’s saying a lot

No, it doesn't look good at all for him and I truly hope that isn't the case. But as of now the "officials" have said that impairment is not suspected, so we have to work under the assumption that that is true.
