Nice of the coaches to drop LSU?

What does a storm have to do with a poll based on performance on the field?

Stop acting like you should get special treatment...what they should just put you in stone and not be fluid the poll because of a storm? The storm has nothing to do with who the voters think are the top teams in the nation. Why should it?

Send this thread to Georgia. We dropped in the rankings without playing during an off week. We aren't crying like Georgia cried last year.

I don't think anyone should drop without playing but that was the old days.

It seems the polls have become a lot more fluid and if they are impressed with a team and you are in the way they will move them up...Mizzou. It's not like they have a huge resume of LSU to go off of. And what was LSU's reason for being #6 in the Coaches Poll? Preseason and a win vs. Appy St. Are voters supposed to assume you are #6 without considerable evidence and with considerable evidence that Mizzou is really good.

Week 7 LSU shouldn't drop for not playing...ranking would actually be based on a body of work.

Week 2...why not, voters are still trying to sort out the contenders from the pretenders.

This is an interesting statement. If true, why has he never had a vote? How are coaches chosen? Has he decided not to participate and if so, why not? Truly interested.

He was offered a vote when became HC at USC. Turned it down. Said he wasn't interested and didn't want to play a role in that whole process. I'm paraphrasing but it was something to that effect. He's reiterated it throughout the years, just not something he cares to do. Interesting because a lot of big name coaches are really into that...Tressll, Stoops, et al.

I don't think Paterno has ever voted either. Some coaches just are trying to be above the fray.

Big deal. LSU didn't play a game that weekend. You're most certainly subject to being jumped in your off weeks because other teams have an opportunity to prove themselves better than what was previously thought, but you don't.

We jumped Georgia in a week they didn't play, when we played the SECCG.

Yeah cause that would be like . . . so out of character for him.

Did you read that article? The SID voted in OSU #1, assuming that's the way Tressel would like it, because he didn't have time to talk to him about it before hand. It was a mistake. Tressel actually had OSU #2. Assuming that this time, the SID was actually able to talk to Tress, I guarantee OSU was not #1 on his ballot, especially after the way we played.

If LSU don't play, out of sight out of mind, LSU drops. Got to play to hold or move up.

Either way, I'd be willing to bet all my possessions that in THIS WEEK'S POLL, Tressel did not vote the Bucks #1.

Who cares...he has a vote, sure he's used it to his advantage in the past...Stoops has done it.

All Big 12 coaches last year went with Mizzou and OU at the end of the year and kick-dropped Georgia in the polls...

All SEC coaches last year went pumped up Georgia and LSU in the polls at the end of the year and kick-dropped Mizzou and OU.

Look it up, facts of why how incredibly stupid the coaches poll is...especially when one conference dominates the voting disproportionately.
The SEC...gets 31% of the total vote out of 6 conferences.

Storm hits Baton Rouge. #6 LSU's second game gets cancelled. #7 Missouri beats a high school team a week after giving up 100 points to Illinos and jumps LSU because the Tigers didn't play because of the storm.

Seems pretty simple to me the connection between the two. I'm not claiming the coaches dropped LSU because of the storm ... I'm merely stating the facts. Like it or not, it is what it is.

Absolutely no connection. All LSU did was switch their open date. Teams do drop during open dates.
