re: Coaches "Blown Out" in National Championship

None of those programs faced a former coach and has to repeatedly do so year after year in the same division.

a lot of peeps on here said they were not the same fans that they were before LSU lost to Bama in the National Championship. I just don't see how that is possible.
It has nothing to do with the 21 point loss. We actually were within 1 or 2 possessions for most of the game.
It has to do with how incredible that season was and the manner in which a team with perceived national bias was allowed back into the picture. In effect, the system "told" LSU that their performance for the last 13 games was for naught and you'd have to prove yourself again. LSU couldn't "win". And for me, the lore and interest in the sport as a whole went down.
I still love LSU and have kept my streak alive but there became clarity that evening.

I don't think us losing by 21 pts is why everyone is/was so butthurt regarding 1/9/12. It primarily had to do with the fact that we were shut out.

I think it has more to do with the fact that LSU is getting outcoached and out-recruited by our former coach, Nick Saban. None of those other teams you mentioned are dealing with that. You have to be real and call a spade a spade. It hurts losing to Bama like we do, but it hurts even more because of Saban. None of that will change until either Miles starts beating Saban regularly, we win another National Title soon, or Saban retires or leaves Bama. I expect a lot of down-votes for this post, but at least I am being real.

I'm not really sure what more he could have done at that point with what he was working with.
No. He just had inexperienced but talented as all heck Mett and seasonally proven JL on the bench.
But left a totally clueless and ineffective JJ in at QB out on the field.
Maybe, just maybe the coach might have pulled JJ and tried either or both of the two left on the bench? I mean, just to see?
Yes, this is a dead horse. And LSU has lost how many more times to Alabama since then?
But one nice win over Bama/Saban by LSU and Coach Miles will set this poor beaten horse free.

I'm not 100% certain, but wasn't Mett ineligible for the season due to transfer? I know they typically have to sit out a season.

Ah my mistake. I'll say again. Leaving JJ in that game the entire time will always be one of the most bizarre coaching decisions I've ever seen. Especially since he benched JL during the first Bama game.

In addition to the points already made about one of the potentially greatest CFB season's ever being squandered, how, and who we lost to, I'm 95% sure all of these coaches:
would have made a change at QB had their QBs played as horribly as JJ did in the championship game, particularly when the guy on the bench had efficiently led the team to a pretty dominant 8-0 record before having one bad half against an NFL caliber defense.

Yeah
Yeah, not a terrible plan...especially since we had dominated with that same plan all year; however, Saban knew our game plan from the inside out. He got elite football minds and NFL coaches to give opinions, and he devised a game plan specific to ours and precisely exploited our weaknesses. He expected each move Miles would make.
I blame that loss more on Miles expecting a win through the methods he had used throughout the year... the "if it ain't broke" mentality. He simply expected the same type of play from Bama.
Now, I like Miles and I believe actually that this year we have a good chance to spank some Bama arse in Tiger Stadium.

Dude is the best coach in the land. It is what it is. We are one of the few teams that can give him a run for his money.
It sucks that he is in the same division but what you gonna do? The guy is the best coach in the land.

Despite the final score, the Tigers were kept in it by the defense. They played one of their best games and can only hang on for so long when the offense was as inept as it was that night.

And i was there til the very end.

That game is painful because of Miles being too stubborn to pull JJ and because we had beaten them already and to beat that team twice was going to be near impossible.
Watching what I knew was going to happen unfold befor the world was tough.

Miles blew out Tressler in 2007. Why is that not on your list?

Do you not remember his epic run against Ole Miss? The game well out of hand, and Mett took off on a decent run where he dove for the endzone. Officials said his knee was down, but less didn't challenge even though the replay appeared to show the ball cross the goal line first. The offense then proceeded to take knees on the 1 instead of punching in a go ahead TD.
