or lack thereof are doing more harm than good. The rumor mill has never churned harder than the last few months. Key, Herron, Guice etc have been labeled just about everything. Just state whats going on and be done with it. If its a very sensitive situation (Key?) I can understand protecting the kid but why sit back and let rumors fly when a kid is injured or ineligible? More often than not the rumors are much worse than the reality. There are better ways to deal with this stuff. Try starting with the truth coach.

Learned it from Miles

But at least he didn't say "Guice has a knee"

Whoa... truth is on Mondays!
It's Thursday, there's no time for that today. The truth will just lead to more dumb questions.

You're about to be told "WHO ARE YOU? You don't need to know this information! IDIOT!"

Fact is, being transparent helps Orgeron more than anyone else. People are more willing to "give you a chance" when we know a chance should be given due to circumstances. He doesn't get that though.

Wrong. It’s none of our business to know. You’re frustrated because you want to know but O won’t tell you.

You're right. Just the same, none of us have to give him the benefit of the doubt when we lose due to lack of depth. He gives us no option but to draw our own conclusions about these mystery player absences.

I think transparency is one of coach O's best qualities as a head coach. For instance, the way he owned this loss was pretty refreshing. He didn't sugar coat it. Said we practiced poorly and played like it, and it reflected on him directly. I mean shite, you may not have ever wanted him to be the coch, or wanted him gone after the game, but the fact is he is still out coach and will be for a while; good to know he claims responsibility.

What you are complaining about is of little importance, especially outside the fan base. He is trying to protect players, players that have likely messed up. What does it actually help anyone to say Herron has failed drug tests? It's easy enough to deduct without it going on record. With injuries, there aren't many coaches that won't be cryptic when it comes to their very best players. Better to make the other team waste time gameplanning for either scenario.

I don't know what rumors any reasonable person would believe that have been worse than reality. Guice was visibly injured in the moo state game. Herron is all but explicitly out 6 games for 3rd failed drug test. What has been rumored that is worse?

If you were to pay closer attention to more programs, I'd like to hear some examples of which coaches give the sort of info you are looking for, on an ongoing basis

Well I've heard that Herron didn't pass the appropriate number of hours last year thus he was "ineligible" not "suspended". Thus, how is it that stating he's failed drug tests protecting him. And unless you have been under a rock you have at least read the rumblings about Guice...while posting pics of himself working out saying its "almost time" and posting paintball pics etc. No visible limp to reporters Monday and Coach initially saying he was off practice strictly as a precaution.

That is not being transparent, he has been everything but transparent since getting the full time gig even after making promises to do so during his probationary period last season.

He is admitting responsibility of his position in the example you described. In other words he's doing what is required of him to earn that $4+ mil.

I feel the same way. We have a clear need at dl depth and it took him 3 weeks into the season to say why our returning senior, who played a significant amount of plays last year, hasn't seen the field

How does this affect the players? They know what's up, who's playing, who's suspended and why, etc. This doesn't hurt their performance.

This is an issue for fans who think they have a right to know everything.

Its not protecting the player or the University to allow rumors to circulate. In todays day of social media things will absolutely get out of hand quickly. If a player is injured state he's injured and give a rough timeline so the player isn't stuck defending his toughness or false rumors of breaking rules or even the law. If a kid screws up teach them a real lesson by putting it out there and letting them own it.

Just for argument sake, while I can understand specific details being withheld for privacy reasons....LSU is a taxpayer funded institution and LSU athletics are largely funded by season ticket holders and TAF donators.

I don't think it's too much to want to know if a player is suspended for "academic reasons" or "disciplinary reasons" and how long.

I agree we don't need to know if a player failed a drug test or a specific class, etc.

You mean the Pete Carroll that had to haul arse out of Southern California before the NCAA buried him and his football program for rampant cheating? That Pete Carroll?
