Coach Orgeron’s Vision: Do We Trust It? We Should.

He wanted an attacking offense. Said that day one. He kept making changes until he got it with Brady. Now that he’s seen what it can do, he’s not going backward.
He liked Aranda and respected him, but I always got the feeling he wanted more attack, more pass rush, more havoc created. Aranda was a genius and it paid off by the end of the year as the defense gelled. I have nothing but good to say about him. He came through and shut down top offenses. But, I think Coach O wanted more attacking and more aggressiveness.
While I don’t know if an attacking, aggressive defense shuts down Georgia, Oklahoma, and Clemson in 3 straight games like Aranda did, I think that it will be as successful as the attacking offense was, but maybe in different ways.
I think O is bringing in Pelini to wreak havoc and let loose the dogs of war to match the intensity of his vision for the offense.
Not sure if it will be more successful than Aranda overall, but it will be fun. I think Coach O has a vision for where he wants the program to go and we should trust it.
In other words, this hire isn’t just about Pelini and what he did here before or at Nebraska. It’s about Coach O and what he wants and envisions for the program as a whole. If he thinks Pelini is the guy to deliver that, then I’m sold.

I mean he just won a Natty so he can hire whoever the frick he wants. I trust his nearly 40 years of coaching experience.

I mean, yeah. I know. But my point is, there is clearly a plan here. And we see that plan working out on the offensive end. Aranda was great, but Orgeron inherited him too and worked under him. Now, he gets to put his full vision in place for the Defense as well.

I dont really follow. If Ed wasnt happy with Arandas defense, then why keep him around? That wpuld be the exact opposite of what Ed has done so far with coaches.
I dont think the plan was to have a bunch of coaches leave the program. Sometimes you cant help it. But i doubt the binder says, get Aranda a head coach job so we can move on to my actual Vision.

It's definitely going to help us get D-Linemen. Aranda's system was killing us on that front.
It's weird how the perception of Aranda's D changed from when he got here to when he left.
His 3-4 was supposedly a one-gap system with exotic blitz packages where our front 7 would feast and put lots of pressure on the QB.
That never happened, and by this year, everyone was saying the Aranda's scheme made the d-line responsible for 2 gaps, and they're main goal was to eat blockers.
I don't know what happened while Aranda was here, but it seems his scheme sort of changed and we just weren't able to get to the QB like we all thought we would when Aranda was first hired.

Over a bunch of dumb fricks on a message board that say Pellini sucks?
Yes

O didn't have to "inherit" him. He chose to inherit him. He also chose to keep him when A&M pushed (at great financial benefit to Aranda). And he would have chosen to keep him but for Baylor offering Aranda the HC job. So let's not act like O was forced to keep Aranda.
That said, O was smart enough to know he had a good thing and didn't fix what wasn't broken. Now he has to push forward with a new guy. It took basically three years to find the right fit at OC. Hopefully it doesn't take any time at all to find the right fit at DC and that Pelini is that guy.
One encouraging part of the hire is that O didn't seem to want the "hot name" (like Canada). But rather the guy who, though somewhat off the radar, he thinks will be the right fit. I'll give him credit for taking that approach when most might say go hire the biggest name! I don't know if Bo will be the right guy. And despite what this season has made us think, not ALL of O's hires have been "home runs". In fact, he's probably batting around .500. Nonetheless, O has earned the benefit of the doubt and he should get it from the fans.

attacking offense and an attacking defense now that aranda is gone should be exciting times
should be big plays all around in all phases for us and other teams who get lucky and "bust one"
im always in favor of not sitting back and playing safe, attack and keep attacking is the right mindset for a champion

that's what I been saying also. But why the OP even ask this when we just won the NC. WTF.

Can we at least get one lousy year post Natty to start talking this shite?

Great! Now coach O can sleep well at night knowing you're on board with his decision
