1) He’s not his coach right now
2) With this offseason (covid, sjw) head coaches have even less of the small amount of time they had to be coaches
3) O has given Shelvin a ton of attention and tough love. Probably isn’t very happy with him taking his ball and going home. At some point the grown man that Shelvin is has to realize he’s not getting his hand held everywhere he goes based on potential.

Did shelvin and coach O have a fight or something? Why hasn't he been in contact with his coach? I know there are a lot of players but figured they would shoot the shite every once in a while

It would appear considering the conditioning of Shelvin prior to the season and new scheme of Bo that Shelvin was slated to have a tough, up hill, battle to get on the field. Shelvin must have had a moment of hubris and thought he’d be able to follow suit of Chase and Vincent. Reality has now set in for his family. Shelvin has come into camp over weight ever single offseason, what does that tell you about his character? Coach O strikes me as the guy who doesn’t put up with bs so if a guy says he’s gone coach probably shakes his hand, opens the door, and says good luck. No skin off Bo’s back either considering the scheme which requires big, fast, athletic DL to run stunts and penetrating bull rush. O hasn’t reached out because....what’s his motto? NEXT MAN UP! He’s got a ball club to run and we are two weeks away from opening day. Having said that I’m sure Coach O would welcome him back with open arms, put him to work, and take the rice/potatoe salad out of his gumbo.

Coach said today that when they return, they will start at the bottom and will need to work their way back into the rotation.

Something tells me Shelvin wouldn’t be playing more than two plays in a row for a while.

This seems correct

from what I gather...he’s talented and has “ flashes “ but has yet to put it all together

O keeping secret weapon under tight wraps, until it's time to unleash him.

I want Emery to break out so badly. I was psyched to get him. He has all the tools to succeed.

Losing only one game based on what? The team has been gutted .

I’m interested to see how Bo’s defensive strategy has improved over the years. We had some great defenses while he was here but I also recall games where teams were lighting us up (Az State ‘05, ‘07 especially)

I know he’s picked up a lot of knowledge since and look forward to an improved defensive stint at LSU.
