Miles didn't have any problems when O was at Ole Miss

Why is everybody afraid of Orgeron? How badly did his recruiting against LSU hurt when he was at Ole Miss?

We are trying to keep the fence up here.

Now is a different time from then as well as both Mississippi schools are having recent success..

If we miss out even on one in state guy, say like Dak Prescott, it could hurt bad..

pretty sure dark wasn't a highly recruited out of high school rather he was developed while at MSU.

But you are correct but Dak is a horrible example.

Miles' loyalty to Brick will be his downfall

Exactly. O talks to Frank Wilson every damn day. So it's laughable when he says he hasn't talked to anyone at LSU.

For the record, I'm all for O being at LSU in whatever capacity. He will be a much needed shot of adrenaline to our program.

We didn't "miss out" on him.

We recruited Prescott but not for QB. He wanted to play for LSU but only if he could play quarterback.

This. Where this program is in the SEC arms race, we need to make a bold gamble. If the only way to get Orgeron is by making him DC, I'm all for it.

This and it doesn't even matter where we are in the arms race. We could have just won the SEC and if we were in this same situation I would still want O on this staff.

The SEC, especially the West, is getting more and more competitive to where one move can change the balance.

I would much rather a closing team of Frank, Bebe and Miles to keep the fence up and reel in OOS prospects than having to deal with O coming in our backyard and prevent us from venturing outside.

I don't know Haley's defensive philosophy and maybe that's what the holdup is, but with Pendergast likely out (unless that's just talk) and Shoop a tough pull from Penn State, I think promoting Brick and hiring O is Les' best option

no it won't I think this board makes him out to be a lot worse than he actually is. Our D-line saw a huge improvement this season.

Well said. I also believe that Ed O will be on another SECW staff if we pass on him.

not really. not counting 2005 because of the obvious screwjob by Saban

2006 - #7
2007 - #4

and in 2005 we still had a higher recruiting ranking

Les' man love for Brick is going to bite him in the arse and in turn, bite LSU in the arse. If a coach like Bebe wants in, you make room. You find a place for him. If O goes to Miss St, then we've got A&M, now with a competent DC, Bama, Freeze and now Coach O who we'd have to fight with for recruits. Bad situation. This is for all the marbles.

Easily because every SEC coach knows the type of recruiter/coach (or motivator) he is and would love to have him in their arsenal. Obviously MSU wants him already, I know the rumor is out there Bama has reached out as well in case Smart seeks a head coaching venture.

You don't want Bama or MSU adding someone like him

right

I don't think O hurt LSU recruiting while at Ole Miss, but he did bring in some of Ole Miss's best classes ever at that time, a time when Ole Miss was absolutely horrible

he is a great recruiter

he would be a good addition to LSUs staff
