I'll always be grateful for 2019 but Coach O is a textbook case in how not to manage success.
You may be correct.

You’ll get no argument from me about the absurdity of BLM.
You're correct the entire BLM movement is absurd.

So what does O do? Goes on TV saying “We love President Trump” and completely avoids the BLM issue during one of the most politically charged moments in recent history.
Dude stood up for what He believed in. He did not succumb to the pressure of a bunch of ignorant criminal supporting MF'ers. The BLM movement, all their hero's & every MF'er that supported/supports their bullshite can eat an enormous bad of dicks. CEO is not one that ever has to look back at that bullshite & make an excuse for himself.

"I'm not going to comment on politics, I'm just going to talk about football" could have avoided the backlash without succumbing to the pressure.

not saying anything at all is sometimes better than saying the wrong thing.

I'm not sure how he couldn't say anything. He was being asked by the Team to march, he declined... A certain number of players quit on him, the team & university.

I was specifically meaning when he was asked about Trump.
saying "We love president Trump, we think he's doing a great job" was saying the wrong thing.

not commenting on it would have been the better and safer solution.

He was being asked by the Team to march, he declined

according to O, he wasn't asked to join them.
he said he didn't even know it was happening.

LSU's Orgeron explains his absence during players' protest march — he didn't know about it

quote:

BATON ROUGE — LSU coach Ed Orgeron explained on Tuesday why he did not join the protest march against police brutality against Blacks by several of his players on Friday.

He was not taking his own stand or dissing his players.

"I didn't even know they were doing it," Orgeron said during a Zoom teleconference. "I wasn't informed of anything."

I don't buy it & now the dude isn't standing up for what he believed in. F'k CEO too

I honestly believe O told the host what he thought the host wanted to hear.

Ed endorsed Jon Bel Edwards (a democrat) less than a year earlier.

and let's be honest, O is pretty notorious for saying exactly what people want to hear when cameras are rolling.

at times fans loved that about him.
other times, fans wished he knew how to "coach speak"

but that's just who O is. he plays to the crowd he's speaking to at that exact moment with little/no thought of the big picture outside of that exact moment.

You may be correct concerning CEO. Dude has run his course at LSU.

CBK is HC, LSU is moving in a positive direction. I'm optimistic.

Covid absolutely was part of his demise

Interesting to learn that Covid was only present in Baton Rouge.

Orgeron believed he was the only reason for his team’s success. After leading LSU to a Natty, he became overconfident and didn’t work as hard to replace his two coordinators, Instead of staying focused, he basked in the glory of the championship and slipped back into old habits that led to his firing from Miami in 1992,. When dedicated, Orgeron is a strong coach and an outstanding recruiter, with intense energy and a great ability to connect with players. However, his arrogance sometimes clouds his judgment, affecting his decisions.

As to the BLM nonsense, there were coaches far less supportive whose teams still showed up in 2021.

Coach O brought in Burrow. He deserves credit there.

Yes, but Burrow was coming here anyway if Tom Herman had taken the job. Playing for O was a much harder sell at the time.

The skills to get to 1 championship do not mean you have the skills to maintain that level. Saban has the latter. Coach O does not.

I appreciate that 2019 happened and also think it was time to move on when he was fired.

Covid hits and George Floyd happens and regardless of how you feel, he was out of touch with his team during that while everybody else was doing the march.
I won't ever blame him for not marching. BLM was scamming gullible idiots left and right. Floyd was a piece of trash. Imagine burying that pile of garbage in a gold casket while NAACP supporters worshiped him. I find it funny that the BLM founders bought expensive houses while stupid people kept following their lead and got nothing in return.
Good on O for not falling for that BS.
