Miles record while at LSU is of "Elite" status.

8-8 in the SEC after starting 19-5 in the SEC is far from elite. Losing records to Houston Nutt (with 2 different teams at that), Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and Mark Richt doesn't scream "Elite!" to me.

So, let me get this straight. Since there are some who think firing Solich at Nebraska was the wrong move for them to make, we should then assume that we are unlikely to do better than Miles at LSU.

We are unlikely to improve upon our guy? You mean the one who routinely botches basic clock decisions, can't coach either side of the ball, whose teams can't lineup properly, who thought the clock continued to run after an interception, and whose teams usually resemble a disorganized mess. We can't do better than that guy?

I am not scared one bit of what happens if we replace Les Miles. Are you kidding?

I am scared of what happens if we do NOT replace Les Miles.

They do. I'm west of you about 2 hours. The University of Kansas School of Law is one of the smaller law schools in the country, and we had two LSU alums just in my class. Welcome to the Rant. Trust me, you will hear some of the stupidest shite on this board.

Is anyone on this board not aware that the real reason Solich was let go by NU was for having an affair with his secretary?

Lets get this straight the problem with Miles is that he is a good coach not a great one but for the money that he is being paid we should have a great coach. The man has blundered since he called a timeout on a turnover against UT. He is a great recruiter though I will acknowledge that, he just makes too many bonehead mistakes to collect the paycheck he does. To ere is human I understand but the little things are what kill me, bc in my limited knowledge of football I could call a T.O. in 5 or less seconds.
Saban is a great coach and it helps that he surrounds himself with other great coaches. People forget though that while saban was here he ran a vanilla offense much like Leslie does. Sauf when the Ro Show was here. Maybe a paycut would help Leslie become the coach we all would hope him to be. Until then in my opinion he is above average at best with phenominal talent that wins games despite himself

so what is acceptable, a 1 win against these two every five year? Sorry, my standards are a little higher than that.

True. I think Miles' fate ultimately rests on the quality and performance of the next 2-3 seasons' o- and d-lines. Seems like that's where conference winning teams truly come from.

Let me put it another way: would Tim Tebow or Mark Ingram or Trent Richardson be as effective without the strength of their o-lines? Would Bama or Florida be where they are with our present d-line?

Anyway, to go beyond 9-3 the next 2-3 seasons, we need more from the trenches.

Our O-line was bad. I could see every huddle T Bob saying "my bad JJ I didn't know I was supposed to block that dude." Granted JJ needs to step up in the pocket instead of drifting farther back and taking a sack.

I still think he is here for a while. Both those teams will have down yrs. A team cant go undefeated yr after yr. It just doesnt work that way. Teams are not going to catch all the breaks and be injury free and have stripes on ur side week in and week out forever.

can he improve it and coach it to the status of Meyer and Saban ?

We'll see Urban's coaching prowess next yr.
No Tebow, and probably no Charlie Strong.
Just 2 yrs ago he had a 4 loss season with both of them. I suspect next yr may be rough for the Gators.

Then I predict that LSU isn't either.

Lance, I live in KCMO, and am a big LSU fan. Where do you guys meet for the games? Do y'all do crawfish boils, or celebrate mardi gras together? KCMOTiger.

They are used to claiming titles they didn't win. Like 5 of the 12 they claim along with about 30 other teams.

Lsu Tiger nation should simply rally around Miles and hope for the best recruits we can get. We just have to face the awful reality that we must play against the 2 best coaches in the nation every YEAR. A b****h of a postion to be in.

I other words we just need to accept that we are now a second tier SEC team. We are expecting too much to compete for SEC West titles year in and year out. We should be happy to be 500 in the SEC year in and year out because we win 8 or 9 games a year.

How many teams win with inexperienced first year QBs? Would Bama,Florida,Tenner,Arky,Ga,or Auburn swap QBs with LSU this season?

Who wins 10 games every yr these days?
Please name them! Did you win 10 games every year? Awaiting your response.

Les has beaten Meyer twice. The turn of events with PerryLouie would have derailed any coach. The lack of capable QB backups and the lousy DC situation last year are probably on Miles. Looks to me like Miles gets things fixed, just not fast enough for some impatient fans.

Hiring a replacement for a 9-3 coach is a crapshoot.
