I am so tired of people who believe they know more than far more qualified coaches. I'm tired of people who declare that every LSU team is of national championship caliber and would win one but for the "inept coach."
I'm tired of people who don't realize that there are plenty of good competitors. And, when the coaches win an NC, it is always "a monkey could do it with the talent."
It takes a real arse to give the coach no credit when they do well and full blame when they aren't having a great year.

It's pretty easy to see systemic issues in a program year in and year out if you actually understand the sport. It's a lot harder for a coach to fix things that they've been doing for 30 years and either don't know how to fix or don't want to fix. You're an idiot, go start another pro-Jones thread and leave baseball alone.

Can people not entertain this jackoff for 50 pages like his Johnny Jones thread?
Just fricking ignore him

I can see you will not win this argument after yesterday's loss...
hopefully, we can get jump started this week and the players will actually wake up and start playing better...winning cures a lot of problems, but Pawl will always be on the hot seat...smoke lived in that same chair, you know the 1 that Skip had specially built for him...it seems no one's butt fits in it...
thinking that we should get another seat built since there will never be another Skip @ LSU...

You have a slight misunderstanding of what mediocrity is

It takes a real arse to defend Johnny Jones as vehemently as you did even though he was a terrible coach.
As far as PM and Miles, they both did great things at LSU... Miles was in decline as a coach and the program needed to turn over a new leaf. PM might not be there yet, but he has the same deficientcies every year and seems to have trouble rectifying them... if he continues on that course, he'll reach Miles territory sooner rather than later.

Winning every game should absolutely not be the goal.
I'm concerned that I continue to see a trend where we allow relievers to come in with a lead, walk and/ or fall behind hitters, and stay in the game until they blow the lead.
They can't pull themselves from the game so who's responsibility is it? Whomever that person is, he should feel like he's a significant contributor to any "problem" with this team.

The truth about the program right now is that it's still flying high off of its (relatively, in the sports world) recent historic run under Skip and has a great deal of prestige to potential recruits. We have the biggest college baseball fanbase in the country and great facilities, among other things. That being said, we sign a lot of quality recruits every year, and every year we have a mass exodus of talent. This is a Mainieri issue IMO from everything I've heard from the many people I've talked to over the years who are close to the program.
We have an elite level of talent and resources, a mediocre level of coaching, and a below average level of depth ESPECIALLY for a program as prestigious as LSU, and it's been like that for a while under Mainieri for obvious reasons. This averages out to good but not great results and a total breakdown in the postseason where depth is paramount. When he has guys like Mac Marhsall, Latz, and Godfrey all transferring out in the same class, that's a sign that he isn't a players' coach even if you don't know anything about him behind the scenes. It's true that you don't win all games in baseball, but a shitty team doesn't usually lose all of them either. Mainieri teams have specialized in beating up on crappy opponents and they can't get it done against good ones (televised record of 3-10, untelevised record of 16-2, put 2 and 2 together there) and it's old to a lot of fans who understand what they're looking at. Granted, we always have the talent to possibly go on a run, but Mainieri seems to be too in his guys' heads year in and year out to let that happen consistently and our players just don't play with confidence or swagger.
We can, and should, do better than Mainieri. A fricking monkey could've won the national championship in 2009 with the insane level of talent on that team, it's no different than what Miles did in 2011 with a team stacked full of future NFL all-stars. LSU baseball has an underachieving and depth issue lately, compounded by Mainieri's poor hiring of assistants and poor in-game decisions. I'm hoping that we move on in a few years from his boring arse brand of baseball so I can enjoy going to the games again.
Great post and spot on!

didn't see CPM swing @ any pitches nor have I seen him throw any pitches this year..
So by that idiotic logic, he also gets no credit for winning any games.

Most coaches won't as the odds are slim - more so in baseball than football.
The LSU program is not 1/2 as great as you think it is.
Fact Number 1 - PM will never get close again. Why do we keep him?
Fact Number 2 - LSU not half as great a program as I think it is? Answer more this....
What program spends more than LSU?
What program makes more than LSU?
What program has lead in attendance for the last 20+ years?
What program has won the most National Titles since the 1990?
Name 5 programs that have better facilities than LSU?
How many teams in the history of college baseball have won more national titles than LSU?
How many have won more national titles than LSU since 1990?
Since 1986, how many teams have more CWS appearances than LSU?
Answer these questions and then explain to me how LSU is not "half as great as I think it is"
I look forward to your response...

Isn't the OP also the one who was defending Jones at the end of the worst losing streak in modern LSU history?

What's laughable is that you believe that wins and nationals seeds mean something. At the end of the day what does that mean?
NOTHING. Wrap your head around that will you. When history views you, do you think they ever mention "how many national seeds they received"?
When he set the school record for wins, what did LSU achieve that year.... wait for it....
I bet you are the kind of guy that counts girls that have spoken to you, or perhaps got a hug from in your "number" of "partners".

there you go, when was the last time he got credit from this board for a win?
it is a team sport...blame is to be shouldered by everyone, but the coach gets the most blame, as it should be, but he can only do so much...I very seldom agree with CPM's decisions, but I don't openly criticize him or the players for their lack of success in these situations...
I am a fan of the game & I want the Tigers to win them all, but, I do understand that we will never do that...
Firmly believe in the ole saying, "let the players play, & the coaches coach, & give hell to the umps"...
