I know that his offenses were predictable, and he made some head scratching decisions, but I miss those days that whoever we were playing, it was obvious that we are the toughest team on the field that day. We had guys like Laron Landy, Spencer Ware, Kevin Minter and Sam Montgomery who would absolutely knock you the frick out.

post 1-9-2012 was NOT awesome by any means. neither was 2008 or 2009 if you really want to get technical about it

Agree with all this.

2010-2012 could also be argued as one of the best three-year stretches in the history of LSU football. Les really had it going for a bit.

Lea Miles won his fricking opening games.

Sure - He had to survive two dropped passes in the end zone at the end to beat a very depleted and suspension plagued UNC in 2010 and another was a mediocre TCU team in 2013 that ended the year 4-8 and we struggled against a really bad Washington team in 2009, got a fortunate call on the TD to Early Doucet on 4th and 10 his first year (that was not a catch), lost to Wisconsin in 2016 but yeah, eeked by a good Wisconsin team in his 9th season two years earlier and Oregon in his 6th year was a very impressive performance, can't take that away.

By that logic every coach, who went on to become a head coach, under Bear Bryant was terrible. Because none of them except Cholly Mac had more than 1 win against him.

Loved Les until I didn’t.

Biggest issue was that he failed to keep up with thr offensive times. 2008 and interceptions spooked him and he went the other way completely.

Teams largely played physical. But eventually you can’t just subdue every opponent and you have to be smart about how to attack and he failed there.

The 2011 defense and special teams were historic, the offense was absolutely atrocious.
Maybe by 2019 and 2023 offensive standards, but that 2011 "atrocious" offense joined 2007 season as LSU top 5 all-time according to 2012 LSU Media guide.
