Another year...another class without an elite QB.

Didn't we get Elite 11 QB Brennan last year?

Isn't Narcise a RS freshman next season, so essentially a 2018 full eligibility QB?

Another year? Please explain.

Restomod . . . still waiting.

Do you know who else were Elite 11 Qbs...

Anthony Jennings
Brandon Harris
Danny Etling

By "Elite" I am speaking of a complete package QB recruit that can be a game changer like Justin Fields...less like the 3 above. The QBs we have, one is currently recovering from 2 knee injuries and another PP that is 6'4 192lbs.

Will they be great? Time will tell, but can you honestly call them Elite right now?

Don't forget that the only quarterback to beat Alabama this year was a juco guy.

And how do you know Fields is elite? Bama for example has signed 4 top QBs in the last 6 years that have transferred. Hurts isn't elite. He has an elite team around him.

Is Rogers elite? I've read some that say he is extremely similar to Harris. Rocket arm and no touch.

So if you state another year without an elite QB you have already determined that Brennan and Narcisse won't be elite. How do you know that?

No high school quarterback recruit can be considered elite right now. There are no sure things when it comes to QB recruiting. That's why it's extremely important to take one every year. You have to play the odds.

Actually Stidham sat out and ran a HS scout team if I remember correctly.

Did not know that. Crazy. I only ever saw that he was the top juco QB last year. Wonder how they came to that ranking when he wasn't even playing.

It’s pretty sad that some folks disdain for our HC has made them miserable fans. When O was hired, I stated that this program was bigger than one guy. I’m not an LSU fan because of Ed Orgeron. I’m an LSU fan because I love LSU and I will support this program through thick and thin, regardless who the coach is. Despite our early season struggles, when this team could’ve folded, they rallied around each other and the coaching staff and grew up. They fought hard and finished with a respectable record, and a bowbirth to a respectable bowl against a perennial and iconic national power. Now, they’re back on the recruiting trail trying to plug holes for next season via quality JUCO players and incoming freshmen. Identifying and filling positions of need is important. And if you’re thin at a position, quality JUCO players are a great way to get immediate contributors. This coaching staff is doing well in that area and I applaude their efforts.

Seems to be all that needs to be said

Because he has it all... measurables, accuracy, speed, most important his footwork and his release. Very rarely are top overall recruits busts.

Those 4 QB that transferred out of Bama were not on par with Fields. I agree, Hurts is not elite.

Rogers can be great, but we won't know for a long time because of his injury.

As far as Brennan and Narcisse, I would not call them elite right now. Would you? Honestly, would you?

I high high hopes from Brennan, his mobility is my biggest concern.

Of course not. And until Fields proves it at the college level it's only potential and speculation.

True, but Fields in much more polished coming out of HS as Narcisse and Brennan.

Ed Orgeron said he was going to recruit JUCO help in the trenches. The result:

No. 1 OT (Badara Traore)
No. 2 OG (Damien Lewis)
No. 1 WDE (Travez Moore)

anyone that doesnt see this as good news needs to have their fan card pulled. Ive been pretty close to the vest about how i feel about hiring O but this is a great pull by him.

Brennan's HS stats:
165 TDs, 25 INTs (14 INTs during sophomore year), 15,027 yards
67.3% completion, 15.3 YPC, 357 yards per game
1,141 yards rushing, 6.1 YPC, 23 TDs

Justin Fields:
41 TDs, 8 INTs, 4187 yards
65.8% comp, 15.7 YPC, 220 YPG
2096 yards rushing, 7.0 YPC, 28 TDs

Fields only played his JR/SR years so if we go by those years alone Brennans TD/INT changes to 101/11 vs 41/8 for Fields.

Obviously different systems and levels of competition, but Brennan's stats are ridiculously impressive and even his rushing stats are solid so I would not say the kid is a statue by any means.

He has elite arm strength and velocity. His accuracy has already been touted as very good as well. None of that has ever been in question. No guarantee, but this kid has the tools to be elite just like Fields.

I left out Narcisse's stats, but to be fair I should include him too. Here's the caveat to his stats. Listed are his freshman, sophomore and 3 games as a junior. He did not play his senior or remainder of his junior season seasons due to the knee injuries. So this is from a 15/16 year old underclassman:

Narcisse stats:
64 TDs/22 INTs, 5433 yds
55.6% compl, 15.5 YPC, 181 YPG
2344 yards rushing, 5.8 YPC, 34 TDs

I would imagine those numbers would be very impressive if he had played his full JR/SR season and far surpassed Fields as they already did as a FR/Soph.

BTW, Restomod I upvoted you because whether we agree or not you participated in a substantive discussion vs throwing hyperbole. Very refreshing. Kudos

Yea, dickhead. It's called filling needs with players that can contribute right away. You act like the whole fricking class is nothing but JUCo kids.. But considering all you've done in this forum today is shite on everything positive about LSU, I guess it's to be expected. Go find a fricking happy place, pill, rainbow, or something ffs..

And don't worry about responding.. You're one of those "people" I choose not to waste too much time on, so I won't be back to check this thread.

You don't think pulling three of the #1/2 JUCO players at each of their respective positions within a few weeks is impressive?

That's funny. It was a big deal when Bama got JUCO Isaiah Buggs last year and a big deal when they got JUCO Saivion Smith this year.

frick him. He's been shitting on every thread he's been in today. It was a big deal then, and it still is now. Especially being some of the best at their positions. Should fill needs nicely in my opinion.

If we are filling immediate needs fine.

We sure in the hell can't make that some regular thing and consistently win.
