Look at how they prop up Big 10 teams.

The playoff committee should be investigated for biasing big 10 teams all year long. Can you imagine they ranked LSU #2, they wanted Ohio State number one so they had to prop up all the big 10 teams to justify the #1 ranking.

This ESPN system must be off those standings.

It took two members leaving the playoff committee and two new additions and LSU taking GA to the woodshed to squeek in at number #1.

It's not biased. It's just an obviously flawed metric that fails to account for the possibility that a team could actually find a way to win more outside of its particular statistical parameters.

When will people realize that fpi isn't a ranking metric? This is nothing to melt about

The sad part is that a human comes along to offer some filler analysis although the model warrants it.

ESPN's Final FPI Ranking

Given the season LSU just had, this result shows that their FPI model seriously needs to be reworked. LSU beat more than half of the other teams ranked in their top ten...by an average of almost two touchdowns each. Nobody else comes close to that accomplishment.

LSU has all of the hardware, both team and individual. That's what counts.

This can't be stated enough. FPI isn't a ranking

It's just a random metric used to predict future performances going forward during the season

Is it flawed? Of course
