I think it would be very wise to consider retaining Tasmin on staff.

First, Taz is probably the only guy from the prior staff who is here primarily because of LSU...not because of his connections with Wade. Thus, I think Taz would consider staying if asked. Bill Armstrong was fired along with Wade. Kevin Nickleberry was only here because he had a relationship with Wade from prior coaching stops.

Second, McMahon is walking into a totally foreign territory. He's been at Murray St. for over a decade. Taz knows LSU. He knows the SEC. He probably knows the local basketball "market". He knows the internal politics and players. That could be of great benefit to a new coach, at a new school, in a new state.

Third, Taz could be a bridge in potentially retaining some of the current roster. I doubt many, if any, of the current LSU players have a relationship with McMahon. They are all guys from out of state who came to LSU to play for Wade. He's now gone, so I'm sure they are all evaluating their next steps. However, they all know Taz and have a relationship with him. Keeping him on board could give some of the guys the level of comfort needed to decide to remain at LSU to play for a new HC.

IMO, it makes complete sense for McMahon to retain Taz. He's likely going to want a "local" guy in some capacity anyway for recruiting purposes. So why not keep such a guy that is already here? In fact, if I were McMahon Taz would be my first "hire" as I meet with my new team and try to convince many of them to stay.

He’d be a nice buffer for the “kiss the ring” brigade too

Even if he goes back to a glorified manager role I’d keep him around

Why? He does not recruit very well, where does he contribute?

The OP spelled it out for you, he’s a bridge for the players to the new staff, he’s an LSU legend that knows the lay of the land. To say he can’t recruit, is lazy and dumb. Every AAU coach in Louisiana know Taz, and he knows them.

Troll elsewhere. Upvoting yourself isn't cool around here.

All solid stuff on post above. Hope it doesn't make too much sense to come to pass.

give me one player he was responsible for...I'll wait because there is zero. He gets paid to just show up and be Taz.
