Against ranked Teams played, Clemson's defense ranked #107 in FBS for Total Defense.

Granted they only played 2 ranked teams, but gave an average of 571 yards per game.

Clemson has a great defense. LSU just has a better offense. Pretty simple.

Clemson held Burrow to 463 passing yards & 5 passing TDs.

(and they actually are a pretty tough defense)

No need to downplay how good Clemson is.

This offense is just the GOAT

Clemson got lucky last night we weren't on our A game. We had some costly penalties and drops that we hadn't seen all year. I'd imagine it has to do with the amount of time between games and then playing the biggest game of the year after being off for so long.

Had we played up to par, it would have been ugly by halftime. And I know they're a very good team, but it just goes to show you how great our team was this year. We probably played a B- game and still won by 17.

Venables did all he could. The only thing you can do against this LSU offense is try to put together a clever scheme and hope it holds up long enough for your team to get a head start offensively. Then you just have to hold onto your knickers and hope you can weather the storm once LSU figures you out and keep pace in a shootout-type situation.

Which is actually exactly what happened. Venables was able to fluster LSU in the first quarter and you could tell that Clemson's offense was throwing out everything and the kitchen sink to score as many points as they could early on.

By the time Brady and Ensminger made the necessary adjustments, it was 17-7. If Clemson could've moved the ball more effectively in the second half, their game plan could've worked well enough to win.

They gave us a run for our money for a bit. They played like a top 4 team. Just that no one can stop LSU

we shoulda screened them to death first half

that woulda ended venables non stop blitzes and us only relying on hot routes

their man press held long enough on many of them

without them blitzing we killed them over the top to beat man press

We played more ranked teams than anyone in the country and were still #31. Wow.

And we beat all those fools

I felt clemson had a really great defense. Burrow was making throws that couldn't be defended. There were guys right there and he threw it anyway because they didn't have their head turned around. Todd Mcshay called it after the game, take away the scheme, the legs, and the accuracy of joe burrow..........thats an NFL mind playing the college game.

This is a weird thread. Look, I hate Clemson. The majority of my family went to USC.

That said, they dialed up a really good defensive plan last night imo. They did everything they could possibly do to disrupt, confuse, and rattle LSU. They really did get a ton of pressure on Burrow, which says a lot considering we have the best offensive line in the nation. LSU just has too many horses out there. LSU did a good job picking on A.J. Terrell too. He was no match for Chase and Jefferson.

Whether "good" or "great" - just semantics.

They are well coached and did what they could to make some stops (we probably punted more times last night than any game all season) and give themselves a chance.

The thing is unless a D is airtight, we find the opening and exploit it.

This offense was amazing. Simply amazing.
