So you are saying that JJ KNEW the 2nd game was going to go into a rain delay in the bottom of the 3rd inning and he would lose his starting pitcher for the rest of the game which is why he started Skenes in game 1 against a team with 40 losses. If JJ knows all this; he's God. He needs to stop coaching baseball and run the world.

My GOD you are fuking DUMB! Not worth another key stroke.

Skip hasn’t coached in a very long time. The game and times change even for the best coach that’s ever done it. Skip isn’t in that locker room.

Yall truly are insufferable. Disagreeing with Jay in this instance means I’m agreeing with lots of other really great coaches who would have done it differently. Are they all wrong too? Simply because I discuss my thoughts on a message board doesn’t mean I hate Jay, I think he’s an idiot, or that I’m simply wrong for thinking he made a decision that I wouldn’t have made or 90% of the coaches out there who are pretty damn good at what they do too.

How does OSU handle breaking balls? Do you have the baseball decision stats on that?
You really think Ty Floyd was the better matchup because of his breaking ball? Over Paul fricking skenes with one of the nastiest sliders in the country? Man y'all are fricking wild

There are plenty of dumb things people say when disagreeing with a coach. I get that it’s often unfounded so the knee jerk reaction by some is to defend the coach no matter what especially when they don’t understand the sport. But the people who do understand it and know what’s going on in a regional format were pretty openly against Jay’s decision. That includes guys like Ben McDonald. And we can see the choices lots of other coaches made this year and in years previously. It’s a justifiable position to take. I don’t want him fired. I don’t want him to have to explain the move. I still disagree with it though based on the information we had. There’s no doubt it’s going to work out. Most of us knew we were still heavy favorites to win the regional regardless of the rotation order. There’s no hindsight 20/20 here.

What the frick are you saying exactly? Skip hasn't coached since one of the players on this roster has been alive?

I’m saying that whatever skip did is not only not relevant because he hasn’t coached for several decades, it was also not the only way to win a series.

They used to smoke cigs and drink beer in the dugout, should we do that too?

Do me a favor real quick and tell me you disagree with how Skip Bertman coached baseball please

There is more than one way to coach baseball, as evidenced by the subject matter.

Speaking of hyperbole.

2 is not “several”

Well for starters, the last time skip won a championship, the Regional format was quite different. Can we just stop there?

The only day of the weekend thunderstorms were not forecast for sometime was Friday. I’m not saying it was the overriding factor in the decision making process, but it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that it was a factor. And it certainly wasn’t anything hindsight wise. what person out there doesn’t consider the forecast when planning outside activities?

Whatever whatever, we are 2-0 and so for things couldn’t have worked out much better.

Wild, but capable of complex thoughts. Skenes is the best matchup for us against everyone. He can only pitch one game.

So, what is the success that OSU has v the breaking pitch? If you dont know it, you can just say so. It is ok. Johnson knows it.

None of them are still worried about it. It’s not about disagreeing, it’s pretty clear it’s about being right, and at this point those that disagreed were not right. But they are doubling down even today.

I agree, and it’s the same posters across all sports. Weak people that seem to follow LSU sports strictly to criticize coaching. Watch the games, have fun. Seriously, take a step back and tell me if you think continuing to criticize this decision is in any way productive.

For those you disagree with, your position is now only hypothetically defensible and frankly irrelevant. I haven’t really even seen anyone say “oh yeah start your ace first game, that’s the only way to do it”…it’s more like “I can see why he may have done it”. But the same idiots making the opposing argument Friday still think they are indisputably correct, which is why we are still talking about it.

This is truly one of the silliest hills Ive ever seen rantards willing to die on.

What “shite storm”?

Do you honestly believe that anyone at LSU is concerned with the criticism of some middle-aged overweight keyboard warriors on Tiger Droppings?

There’s not been any criticism of his decision, except for on this forum. Everyone else who has stated an opinion about it, is just that, it’s an opinion. Jay Johnson doesn’t answer to you, or any of the other commentators on TV.
