There are plenty of dumb things people say when disagreeing with a coach. I get that it’s often unfounded so the knee jerk reaction by some is to defend the coach no matter what especially when they don’t understand the sport. But the people who do understand it and know what’s going on in a regional format were pretty openly against Jay’s decision. That includes guys like Ben McDonald. And we can see the choices lots of other coaches made this year and in years previously. It’s a justifiable position to take. I don’t want him fired. I don’t want him to have to explain the move. I still disagree with it though based on the information we had. There’s no doubt it’s going to work out. Most of us knew we were still heavy favorites to win the regional regardless of the rotation order. There’s no hindsight 20/20 here.

I’m saying that whatever skip did is not only not relevant because he hasn’t coached for several decades, it was also not the only way to win a series.

None of them are still worried about it. It’s not about disagreeing, it’s pretty clear it’s about being right, and at this point those that disagreed were not right. But they are doubling down even today.

For those you disagree with, your position is now only hypothetically defensible and frankly irrelevant. I haven’t really even seen anyone say “oh yeah start your ace first game, that’s the only way to do it”…it’s more like “I can see why he may have done it”. Do you honestly believe that anyone at LSU is concerned with the criticism of some middle-aged overweight keyboard warriors on Tiger Droppings?
There’s not been any criticism of his decision, except for on this forum. Everyone else who has stated an opinion about it, is just that, it’s an opinion. Jay Johnson doesn’t answer to you, or any of the other commentators on TV.
