ive talked to some of the players and they said garrett was the real deal and had the best arm on the team and was the smartest, i believe he will be the starter by next fall
Will believe it when I see it. I believe Miles will stick with JJ unless he pulls a JL.

agreed...jj seems to have the talent needed but was missing some respect from his teamates as well as the experience necessary for the game to slow down in his head...another year under his belt should have gone a long way in both respects...

Seriously. If JJ doesn't get injured or just completely screw things up, this is a moot point. And I'll believe Garrett is "real deal" enough to replace a decent starter when JJ gets pulled from a game (because he's hurt or we're far ahead) and Garrett really puts out
Garrett might get the 2nd string spot...MAYBE...but thats even a bit of a stretch considering Lee's experience.

Now if he continues to do the same crap he did this year I'd hope Les and co. are open minded enough to give CG a shot.

Yeah...that would be a TRAVESTY!

Chris Garrett may turn out to be the greatest QB ever at LSU, but other than not playing at all this year, what would lead anyone to think that he "looks" like what we need?

tight spirals in the QB drills video on the advocate site

Those appear to be good stats but when you add in the other stats, it brings this down a bit. One such stat that you don't find in the stat book is....how long does he hold the ball and if you have been to games, you would see how wide open our receivers are at times and he doesn't see them.

I think he does.

NO he want but hopefully he will get some playing time early on just in case JJ gets gimpy. Maybe our offense will get us up by 3 scores in the 4th so we can get him on the field...

No chance with Les Miles, despite the fact that this would probably be the salvation of our team.

Gosh, when JL was stinking up the fiel in 08, I seem to recall the exact same "JJ is the real deal in practice" shite. I think I remember some guy talking about how the other players would stop what they were doing to watch JJ throw because he was that good.
All BS.
All BS.

There are older guys in front of him, so no.

The fact is that if Garret proves he is better than Jefferson Miles will still stick with Jefferson, where Spurrier would start CG right away.

Think all people want is the best QB, best players to get a shot to play. Who knows if Garrett is better? If he is, play him. If not, let him sit and learn, get garbage time to get experience.
Well said.

If they don't get the off line straight then it does not matter who is QB

He just looks like what we've been needing. Confident strong armed pocket passer that can just get it to the playmakers hands
so you have seen him play?

quote:Both things that come from experience. You really think that a RS freshman is going to come in and light it up vs SEC opponents? JJs problems this year stem from inexperience and your logic is "hey lets bring in a less experienced QB that should fix all our problems"? Sure that makes sense.

See Lee last year. Inexperienced QB, we start a less experienced QB the next season and wouldnt you know it, we had problems with inexperience at QB.
Crazy right?

We need an offensive line coach!

I think BilJ's two posts are spot on.
I too believe that JJ will turn the corner with a full year of experience under his belt. He's big, mobile and has a good arm. He has some mechanical issues (e.g., throws off the back foot too much) but nothing really worrisome.
For him it has all been about getting the game to slow down and learning to make the reads.
I also agree with BilJ that if he doesn't show improvement, Miles needs to see what else we have. You can quote all the stats you want but the guy is the most responsible for the one stat that matters--112th in total offense.
