University of Florida

Roundtrip direct from Houston to Jax - United $151
2 night hotel stay split between guests - $50 each

$201 total for travel and lodge to watch LSU stomp Florida is pretty hard to beat.

You can get very competitive yes at hotels 3-4 miles from campus for as low as $60/night and both United and American have very low rates. Its worth looking into....

Lmao it’s split 4 ways. It’s $200 total for 2 nights and rates are cheaper than they were before Covid.

I travel w old college buddies every for about 8 years straight now. We’re making our way around the entire SEC. I’ve got 4 more campuses to go

I've done Starkville quite a few times for pennies

I'll pass on putting four to a hotel room though

Oxford?

Tank of gas
case of Beer
Couple Burgers

I think that would be less than a trip to Gainesville.

Also Jacksonville is an hour or so to Gainesville? You hitchhiking? You need to add transportation and food, beverage to this low cost trip you have here.

Y’all plan on watching the game at the hotel?

How is it a "road trip" if flying?

Using points for the rental so it’s free!

We’re going whether we get tickets or not. It’s my first time to the swamp so I’m willing to pay whatever for a ticket if available. 17,000 is not many tickets so it may be difficult

Don’t speed through Starke on way from Jax or it’ll get a bit more expensive.

Weakest SEC tradition I’ve ever experienced is the sad, end of third quarter circus/merry go round sounding, arm in arm swaying, uninspiring song they play in that stadium.

Also be careful where you park your rental car. Mine was towed and we had to take a damn bicycle rickshaw to the impound lot. Finally, cash only at the tow lot, f’ers.

It’s cheap because nobody wants to travel to Gainesville. It’s not exactly a bucket list trip.

Until you're paying $500+ per ticket on the secondary market if you're even able to find tickets for the game. Tennessee released tickets to season ticket holders last week and early prices for any of their games are starting at around $300/ticket. I would assume the Florida/LSU game will be a slight more in-demand ticket.

If you can't get tickets, it's going to be pretty uneventful. Doubt they allow tailgating and bars/restaurants aren't going to be business as usual. Seems like a waste of a trip if you're expecting to experience a roadgame in Gainesville. But to each his own.
