Is there even a precedent for a position coach signing a new deal, and then leaving for another school a few days later?

I am not shitting on Miles. I am a Miles supporter.

I was just saying that this is a ridiculous rumor. I would have to believe our head coach and AD are morons to not see something like his whole defensive football staff leaving for a rival. I don't believe that at all. Just putting in perspective how stupid the rumor is.

Correct. Chief isn't exactly a coach that likes to move around often.

I have no idea what will happen but Peveto was here with Miles prior to Chavis and if I'm not mistaken Raymond was also a GA here with Miles prior to joining the staff in 2012, not to mention he played here.

That's not exactly an illusion.

Again, I have no idea if one, two, all or none would come with Chavis if he indeed leaves. All I can tell you is that, by all accounts, Chavis to A&M would have been public knowledge over a week ago if there weren't assistant coaching issues.

I agree with several here who say LSU is probably going to make a last minute offer that may make all this a non-issue. I cant fathom LSU letting Chavis walk for less than $2 million if for no other reason than to save face and prevent a recruiting rival from gaining an advantage.

You really think they would just say "Nah, we'll wait until Chavis decides whether or not to leave before signing those deals"? If there is nothing binding them to LSU in the deals (and there rarely is in position coaching contracts) what do they have to lose?

you posted a story that was full of BS.

Just because I'm poking holes in your story doesn't mean I don't think Chavis could leave. But the only signs I've seen are trolls saying Chavis will leave.

other than Chavis not signing an extension, this is the last story (at-least on TD.com) on him

I trust this guy more than the random posters on TD saying he will leave. I realize this story is a few days old, but again nothing points to this story being wrong, other than Chavis hasn't signed, and that doesn't really point to anything.

I said I was told its a done deal in principle, and A&M insiders are saying Sumlin has his guy and the announcement is pending. That's very different from saying the deal has been signed and Chavis is on a plane to Texas.

I'm sure the sip is wrong and your coach is safe. Or just a smokescreen. No way Chavis would call Sumlin. Move along. Enjoy the bowl game.

How about if Chavis doesn't go to A&M you have to quit TD forever?

You just called for the most successful coach in school history to be immediately fired if one of his assistants leaves.

That is a ridiculous freak out.

It was some hyperbole; however, think about how stupid this event would be and how it would drastically hurt LSU.

I obviously think this is a ridiculius rumor and will not happen.

It happened to A&M in 2012 during Sumlin's first round of hires. It happens during staff turnovers fairly regularly as well, with guys signing new deals then leaving when their OC or HC leaves for another school.
