woopiginaustin I love my Hogs too but you are not going to get validation on a LSU site. We have a ways to go til the end of the season. A lot can happen.
It's one win at a time

We will not say you're better than us, when you haven't played us yet. As of right now though...Arkansas IS playing better than us. Alot of season left, so we will see.

I'm not looking for validation and have all the respect in the world for the LSU baseball program, its titles, and loyal fan base.
I'm just jumping in and offering a rebuttal to those who say "lets see what they are made of after (fill in the blank)".
At this point, they have accomplished all you can ask.

Agreed. Now move on.

If we're talking about catching Arkansas in the SEC (which I assume was the subject of the thread), then yes, Arkansas still does need to prove itself.
Again, Ark is a great team and is playing well, but has mostly feasted on the dregs of the SEC. SOS and RPI and whatever else you want to look at are irrelevant when looking at SEC standings, which ya'll currently control. But it has been an easier route for Ark to get that control so far - we'll see in a few more weeks when it has all evened out.
As of right now, I'd set the odds at 45/45/10 for Ark/LSU/OM

if we take 2/3, and then shadow them the rest of the season, we tie, and take the H2H against them.
We're 2 back from them now. If we take 2 of 3 and shadow what they do every other game, they still win by 1 game.
I'd still say the chances of catching Arkansas are extremely high. We're ONLY 2 games back with 18 to play. Also LSU hasn't even played their best baseball yet.

quote:Yes they have. The 'backs have played some good ball. LSU's hope is to take 2 of 3 in Fayetteville, sweep Tenn at home and hope Tenn wins one against you in Knoxville.
At this point, they have accomplished all you can ask.
But there's a lot more ball to be played! Anything can happen.

30 games in and this isn't sufficient to recognize "what they are made of"?
I meant let's see where you stand after you get through the toughest part of the SEC schedule. Touchy little piggy, huh?

Arky should be number 1 right now. However, College baseball has so many damn polls you can't really declare that you took 2 out of 3 from the number 1 team in the nation. LSU also took 2 out of 3 on the road in Georgia from the number 1 team in the nation. We also took 2 out of 3 from Ole Miss. Of course we did drop 2 out of 3 against Illinois and we lost to UL sucky balls and Tulame. I like the standings right now. We'll see how it all folds out.

We took 2 of 2 from the #1 team in 4 polls but that isn't good enough because we didn't lose a game 3?

I beg to differ. The simple fact your carrying on so much to get your points across on an LSU WEBSITE proves it.

Yeah, there's an error -- took 2 of 2 from Arizona State, not 2 of 3.
He didn't say anything about not being good enough, though -- only making the point that the #1 part in and of itself isn't what makes that accomplishment great, because LSU literally did the exact same thing on the same week, thus indicating two #1s, which makes no sense.

believes a team has to beat LSU to prove its worth
You may not have to beat LSU to prove your worth (I'm on record in this thread as saying Arkansas should be # 1) but you may have to beat us to win the west. Or beat us to win the SEC tourney. Or beat us to win the college world series. No one here is challenging your teams worth by stating you have yet to play the tougher teams in the SEC. The tread is about our ability to catch the Hogs not your teams worth. I think you may be a bit too sensitive and missing what's really being said.
