If you play D1 football at lsu you better be fired up even when the guy next to you pulls splinters out of his arse.

yeah. I would be real "FIRED UP" to play miss state at 11 am in the rain

You shitting me? Have you never played sports before? Things like that happening in the rain in a close game should get you fired up even more... And it wasn't raining when that happened...

He's right tho, when someone does something stupid there is no emotion from the coaches... I remember when Saban and Pelini were together, when someone fricked up they heard it, our coaches need to get that fire sparked in some of these kids arse... I feel like they get off easy with Miles... I like him more than Saban, and if he could just get that in him, the fire Saban has, this team would be unbelievable.

You just can't do that as a player for the entire game....
I don't think anyone on here is sayin that, but when you make a "huge" play like batting down a game tyin TD pass, that warrants huge emotional outburts, this LSU team is just doing things like it is going through the motions, no big deal, just like they are playin. and a lot of that has to do with the coaching, not getting on them, and such.

Comparison of MSU kick return 11:21 with rain vs NC game interception is like apples to diamond studded rings

honestly, I know what you mean, Chad Jones also made another huge play when he batted down that should have been TD pass, and not one LSU defender ran up to him and congratulated him, something is wrong with that.

I noticed that as well, but to be honest at that point the defense was GASSED AND had 1 more stop to make!

Hmmmm...was it because Miss State was still on the 4 inch line and had another shot at the end zone?

You guys ever think that the coaching staff has told these guys "you haven't won shite yet, so stop with all the celebrating downfield tackles, etc, until you do?"

Getting the team all riled up and piling on Chad Jones after breaking up a 3rd down pass on 3rd and inches is not a great idea. They had to focus on 4th down, which they did, and THEN celebrate.

WRONG.

Save the emotional outbursts for when you have accomplished something. Teams get 4 downs, and this team actually had the presence of mind to FOCUS for four downs. Stopping a team on third down when they are inside the one is not an accomplishment.

No there is nothing wrong with that. The defense had to stay focused to stop them on 4th down. Did the defense celebrate after stopping them on 4th down? I would hope so, go back and over-analyze their celebrations and let us know how much they celebrated so we can determine whether or not they play with emotion.

And what if CJ bats down that pass, the whole defense celebrates like crazy, then Miss St scores the next play.

Everyone would be here saying "You don't celebrate when they're still on the 1 yard line! You keep focused. Celebrate if you stop them on 4th."

Rantards = impossible to please

ETA: I didn't read everyone's follow up post basically said what I said. I was just so aggravated by the time I got to his post I felt compelled to post without reading the rest.

obviously I should have worded what i said differently because a lot of you guys are reading into what i said completely wrong. your teammate just made a great play because had he not batted that down it was a sure TD. but you just don't ignore that, a couple of teammates could have went up to him to do a lil chest bump or fist pump, and say something to the effect of " great play man, now lets get'em on this last down", but I didn't see any ofthat going on. you guys can make up whatever excuses you want because that is what they are, but the coaching staff is not breathing fire into these guys, there lethargic play speaks volumes.

Me neither. It's grasping for straws. Durned if the do, durned if they don't IMO. Some fans will complain either way.
