CFB rankings are more about positioning than who is the best team

You can always tell they put teams in spots based on certain outcomes that they want to accomplish in their final poll.
Bama…way too high setting them up for a three loss entry into the playoff.
Notre Dame… way too low…one more loss and they are out. Committee is obviously not happy they are required to put Notre Dame in if top 12.
They do this every year. Setting up potential scenarios vs ranking the best teams.

Biggest marketing scam in all of sports. Need a 64 team playoff that starts the last week of November. Losers go home!!
The reason it can not be done is the SEC would have a 30 - 40 year win streak.

There is no way to determine "best"
You can only decide how to crown your champion

I think if you look at the Kentucky loss as a tie in regulation, and then a loss in overtime, you'll see LSU is in a different light than other two loss teams. We HAVEN'T lost by 16 to anyone. A 3 loss LSU will be right on the edge but will get a nod. A 3 loss Bama may get same treatment due to how Georgia game ended. Others? Probably not. So, gotta beat Bama to stay in and keep them out of our spot. Same for Texas, but they don't have that 'almost win' like LSU and Bama. But they have several significant wins, we don't.

the CFP usually puts people in the order they think they’ll end up in if they win out.
It’s hard to understand Alabama over
Kentucky though.

See above, Kentucky didn't beat LSU bad, they won on extra point in overtime. Treating it as a tie
Bama gets same treatment for Georgia game (yeah its bs, no telling what would happen if penalty). There's actually some.logic here if you look deep. Committee has given Bama huge benefit of the doubt, but not LSU (cause we actually loat in overtime to KY). Saturday will fix Committes problem either way. This game is THE must win. Texas is mostly. Tenn is even less. We are kinda the opposite of Bama, HUGE potential to move up rest of year. LSU is Bamas only hope to stay relevant
