so that's part of your litmus test: love of the school?

That would disqualify virtually every coaching candidate for every job in the country.

Go get the best coach out there, period.

Man I don't know why some of you people are in love with Jimbo Fisher?? I don't get it?

uh, because he took a program on the decline under Bowden and turned it around quickly. Has won conference championships, a national championship, a playoff appearance, had a Heisman Trophy QB, and is recruiting at the highest level. Sure, this year is a bit down, by their standards, but that happens. But that doesn't mean he's suddenly turned into a bad coach. He's a phenomenal coach.

You can't just take a snapshot and base your opinion off of that. Sounds like you're doing that with Jimbo. And with O too, by the way.

The way the energy in the program has changed so quickly and what O has done in his time as a recruiter at LSU I am all on the O train....just because of Recruiting alone really.

He will out recruit anyone in this state. No one will do a better job of keeping the ridiculous talent that the state of Louisiana has to offer at home.

Les recruited extremely well. There's a heck of a lot more to it than that.

If O Plays Bama close and wins the rest, Alleva would'nt have the nads to not hire O because he would be the fans and players overwhelming choice. The pressure on him to retain O would be unbearable.

Ok, Buga, I'll bite. I know you want to spill the beans. What, to the extent that you're able to say, was the gist that was communicated at said meeting?

I like O . Good position coach, great motivator and recruiter.
He is not HC material at a major program.
If he got the job, it would take at least half a decade to recover.
I don't understand the zealots on either side of this.

I was one who was really skeptical of O. From what I had read, I wasn't even crazy about Les hiring him to coach the DL. Sine then, the more I see, the more I like, and the fact that he sounds like he can shoot a gun, drink Old Charter, and tell a joke as good as any good ol' Louisiana boy is the least of it. In the meantime, why not stop worrying so much with all of these threads and just enjoy the ride?

Am I willing to give him the keys yet? No, but I have seen enough to know I am willing to consider it. Why not just see how it unfolds? Chances are that by the time it happens, the choice on whether to keep O or not will be a no-brainer.

Yeah, CEO could be the hc at La-Lafayette. The Cajuns might need a motivator like O, who is also a Cajun himself. O would fit well there, as a hc and "mascot" like someone said.

No chance any of the first three are at LSU next year. Herman is at TX or Houston next year. Got tired of posting about Jimbo not come inf here last year (notwithstanding all the criticism/down votes). Peterson is a NE guy and is running the PAC 12 in a short period of time. Why would he come to the SEC West?

Coach O has proven he can win with talent when others couldn't. He is doing well so far. He is a beast at recruiting and seems to get the most from players/LSU fan base. Why not give him a shot?

Yeah, winning 90% of his games in the last four years, three conference titles, AA quarterback, and a NC is nothing we want at LSU.

Why would he leave that? LSU is a lateral move, at best. He would be stuck in the best division in the country, the most unreasonable fan base and won't be making more money.

Recap. Harder job, higher expectations, and same money.

I do not know anyone that would take a job under those conditions. If he does, he's not as smart as many of you think.
