I will agree that Cecil was a leesville thug and shouldn't be in any conversation or comparison with Faulk or any other LSU player who went to school and abided by the law.

CC is maybe the best talent i've ever seen at LSU.

Plus one of, if not the best high school career ever in LA. Cecil ran for 3079 yards during his senior season in HS.
u serious, bro?
didn't michael ford eclipse cecil's leesville record, then go on to have a good but not great college career? should we think of cecil as the GOAT because of his high school career? and have you checked the players who've come out of louisiana? lots of hall of famers and you're comparing them to a guy who set high school records.

Dont put words in my mouth bro. I was using his high school record as further proof of his talent for those who are saying his 3 games are not enough to judge him off of. Its not like he just played weak defenses and had 3 lucky weeks like some are implying.
Ford was a great high school player too but didnt have Cecil's size and power to dominate at the next level.

From an old ESPN article when he got drafted
Edit: Linky
That says quite a bit if you ask me.
quote:
Blesto, a service that scouts NFL players, ranked Collins as the best player in last Aprils draft, putting him ahead of even the dreadlocked kid who rushed for more college yards than anyone ever.

Collins played in all of six college games

That says quite a bit if you ask me.

it's all clear now.
cecil's 3 collegiate games = not enough to judge him as the GOAT
cecil's 3 collegiate games + high school career = GOAT, bruh!

I'm going to assume you
a)didnt see him play
or
b)have no football intelligence at all.
Once again, people are trying to compare careers, and that's not a debate. Im only comparing raw talent.

I look at it like this,
Kevin had a great career in the NFL the Diesel was in prison so to me:
Kev > Diesel

Here's a refresher since its been a while. Notice the yards after contact.
Also notice Faulk at 7:45. Gotta love that guy.
Edit: im even more impressed after seeing those runs again....damn

People forget that Cecil was an absolute beast in college.
I've never seen a more hyped 500 yard of rushing in my life. Justin Vincent was great one year too.

We had such a small sampling of Cecil Collins its hard to say. Kevin Faulk was one of my favorite Tigers of all time but Collins had the chance to be something truly special.

It does not matter because you cannot play if your in jail no matter how good you are. Faulk keeps his Ducks lined up and has a good College Career and a Pro Career. Meanwhile the Diesel is in Jail.
Not much else to say here.

The best that never was, much like Marcus Dupree. I only saw Collins on replay, but, for three games that guy was in a class of the Bo Jacksons and Herschel Walkers of the world.

It's amazing to me that people can't differentiate talent and accomplishment. It's like a mild retardation.
If Bo Jackson had screwed up his hip after only a couple games, he wouldn't have been less talented, he would have accomplished less.
Collins' ability was a good bit better than Faulk's, and that's saying something, because Faulk was a hell of a college player. It's not hard to evaluate Cecil Collins, even though his tape is short. He had elite vision, elite balance, elite burst, elite ability to run through tackles, good top end speed, but not elite. He was the most talented RB at LSU in my lifetime.
And to say he played against only questionable run defenses is absurd. Miss State with Joe Lee Dunn routinely had top 5 run defenses nationally. Auburn had probably the best linebacking corps in the country. Both teams had defenses that were as highly regarded as LSU's recent Ds.

Again, some people feel capable of forming an opinion based on what they see rather than relying on statistics.

Thank you! I've been trying to make that point for 4 pages now. Being in jail and a screwup off the field has no bearing on who was the better talent. Some of you need to watch the link I posted. I wonder which of those runs remind Rickdaddy of Justin Vincent?

I was at the 97 Au LSU game. Collins was a man among boys. Guy wasted his life.
