There was some fortune involved like it has to be when you play good teams.

The margins are razor thin in these games and as much as nobody really likes to admit it, a lot often comes down to luck. We are probably 2-3 plays away from being 7-0 or 4-3.

It’s funny how those handful of plays make a dramatic difference on fan perception. This place would be very different today if Nuss doesn’t complete that pass on 4th & 5.

FWIW, I think Kelly is a very good coach. Not trying to diminish anything.. just an observation on fan reactions.

Kicking the XP for over time rather than going for 2 was another really smart decision.

No way we were losing that game in OT

If taking the ball first is so advantageous, then why didn't we take it first in overtime? Should be the same in most games unless you have a weaker opponent who poses no threat to you offensively.

completely different rules for overtime than for regulation.

Nah, they absolutely won in spite of his coaching/decisions!

If deferring were objectively the right call, you’d think there would be solid statistical evidence supporting it

I agree, analytically there is a negligible (if any) difference.

the only games where it matters tremendously is games where weather conditions dictate going a certain direction is a key factor (stiff wind at your back rather than in your face in 4th quarter).

He deserves credit, but man, we have to start playing well from start to finish.

We can't afford to constantly have to climb out of holes we put ourselves in early in the first half.

Would be my main focus for improvement. OM is a solid team but not a complete team. Apart from TS , not sure we dig ourselves out of the hole.

True Dat. Kelly as well as the Rant for the most part has had zero confidence in the defense to date. Their performance on Sat. Should change his mind. I don’t see us taking ball on offense rest of season if we win the coin toss. We’ll see. Kelly did win coach of the week so props to him. Well deserved!
