Sometimes, I feel like there should be a third button added, when downvotes don’t properly represent how bad a post is.

Love the content, Coach!
Also welcome to the board. Medieval nobility might call many here “below the salt,” so to speak. We have more trolls here than a middle earth nursery rhyme.
Just ignore them. Everyone here loves the Tigers (even if they’d sometimes rather be right than see the tigers win) and will gobble up the great content you generate

quote:Thx for the link. Saw your segment with Jordy. But had not found your site. Good stuff, but IMO your JD critiques this week were off-base.
CoachKyleCaskey
Earlier in the season JD had receivers running wide open. He either failed to find them, or would not pull the trigger. He retains some of those same tendencies, but he's definitely improved. In this instance, your film analysis is more a case of premise forming facts, rather than facts determining premise.
Most of the plays you critique were cases of bad play calling/design and poor O-line execution. Could Burrow, Mahomes, or Aaron Rodgers make the throws you're suggesting JD should have attempted? Perhaps. But that's a VERY high standard.
We're all aware of JD's overly cautious passing tendencies. It seems you determined in advance those tendencies were the likely cause of our impotent offense. The facts don't quite fit the assumption though.
Instead IMO, Saturday was a case of a forced gameplan. As CBK says, "Get 5 on the perimeter and good things happen." We did not do that. Instead our gameplan entailed pocket passes targeting slow-developing routes in preference to pushing the run game.
Let's take a look:
(1)
This is the sack you addressed on Jordy's show. Slow developing routes with a free rusher.

In this instance, an Arkansas rusher immediately comes free. Daniels, looking right, is forced to either throw with a safety in place (hint: interception), or scramble forward and to his left which (unless your QB is Patrick Mahomes) takes the routes to the right, as well as the short crosser out of play. This is the perfect example of a gameplan problem given our inability to pass protect.
Concluding discussion of this play with Jordy, you pointed out the "wide-open" check down. How is JD supposed to make that throw?

----
(2)
Play is a double slant. JD's read is inside-out. The free rusher negates a secondary read. You suggest Daniel could have gotten the ball to Taylor on his primary read, the inside slant.

If he throws that, there may be a 10-20% chance of completion. But a 20-40% chance of interception by #40 (maybe for an 80yd pick-6). Again, the problem is an O-line whiff, with an unimpeded rusher straight up the gut.
---
(3)
Here is a slot screen, and another o-line screw up. You correctly point out the o-line dropped blocks by design. Regardless though, LSU's RT cannot give up outside penetration on this play. Yet, he is beaten to the outside. Now, he does proceed to make an excellent secondary block, but the play is already blown up.

In the left frame, you suggest JD should have thrown the ball despite #40's penetration. The right frame shows fairly clearly what the result would have been. #40 either intercepts or knocks the pass down. If JD loops the ball over him, the Ark DB picks it, and is off to the races.
With #40 undersized, the play call here is either an off-tackle dive or a toss sweep R.
