Can't the lazy river fiasco be used to go after F. King?

It's a fricking travesty. Just ignore sports entirely.

Of course, this requires a Governor with sack, and who's not buddy buddy, but there is more than enough damage on this clown to get him out of here.

The governor is practicing with the team. You think he thinks anything is wrong at LSU?

There isn’t one. The REC was badly in need of updates. They were going to build an outdoor pool with the updates. A lazy river was added as well in place of a dip pool or something similar. People flipped their shite because of some WSJ article.

Students voted on and supported the fee increase to cover the bond issue for the renovation.

Yup. Some people are too stupid to consider how bad the facility was before. Or that they spent months researching other schools to determine where LSU was at nationally.

You just might not be up to speed?
quote:

Jeffrey Sadow, an associate professor of political science at LSU's Shreveport campus, and a frequent blogger on government waste, said state taxpayers subsidize public university tuition at a high rate relative to other states. He is not surprised that students and families balk at the idea of tuition hikes.

"Funding for this aesthetically pleasing, but dubious project undercuts arguments that families are too strapped to pay more, allowing taxpayers to pay less at LSU," Sadow told FoxNews.com. "If they can afford increased student fees to fund this project, surely they can afford higher tuition and fees instead of foisting this responsibility on taxpayers. Or they should reallocate these fees toward the academic activities of LSU and create more fairness in how higher education is funded in Louisiana."

I’m sorry where in there does it say the students are paying for it with increased fees?

And this is an LSUs prof complaining about not getting more funding.

It does say that in the article

But the gist was, if parents will pay extra for a lazy river, why not more important improvements that they expect the taxpayers to fund?

It was a STUPID thing to do. The same year that the school said LSU may not have enough money to fund a football team

Oh my fricking god. When will people learn that the lazy river was paid for by the STUDENTS and voted for by the STUDENTS?! The administration had nothing to do with it.

Because the URECs proposed improvements provided the students with tangible benefits. Instead of doing media interviews, Prof. Sadow could spend more time working with students and show them the value of increased investment in faculty.

That wasn’t what they said.

“I know a lot of people will say, ‘Well, that’s not going to happen,’” Alexander said referring to the prospect of LSU football being hurt. “Well, that will happen if we don’t have money for summer school.”

The recent theme of using football to garner attention for worst-case scenarios to higher education has been widely criticized by many legislators who have stated that the rhetoric is either unrealistic or that it minimizes the importance of cuts to academics.

“It’s not us saying that,” Alexander said. “It’s the NCAA telling us that."

Jesus christ. LSU needed a new Rec, it also needs better, well payed professors. It decided on one. If we hired a few more professors or offered some raises then we'd just be bitching at how shitty the Rec is. You can't give everything to everybody all at once. I'm glad LSU at least did something to help itself out for once. That rec is incredible and very important to recruiting not to mention its main purpose of encouraging its students (who are mostly from one of the unhealthiest states in america) to lead a healthy lifestyle. Jesus Christ people.

You said LSU wasn't going to have enough money to fund a football team. Which was never said.

LSU threatened to cut academic and operational costs by eliminating the summer semester. Thus making some student-athletes potentially ineligible.
