Matt Canada did it last year almost to the tune of 300 yards.
Many of the folks paid by LSU Athletics to post here fail to realize that if an offense can get a few first downs and eats a little clock it makes the D that much better.

We lost this game because the of OLine.
3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out... thats all O line.

And amazingly enough, you just described how Bama moved the ball. It's called pitch and catch. And we haven't been able to do that for a long time. It took Mett with Landry and OBJ 3 years in the system to still lose.
Bama's QB ran 40+ yards for a TD on one leg. Our QB ran read option designed running plays that NEVER resulted in the QB keeping the ball, even when everyone keyed on the RB. Many of our passes were terrible play actions, when the defense NEVER had to respect the run.
Calling our passing game antiquated would be like calling dinosaurs yuppies. Flashback to 2011. LSU and Bama's offenses were essentially carbon copies, until the rematch. Saban let McElwain throw on 17 of 21 FDs in the first half, and the rest is history. Saban evolved, and LSU has not.
And considering that a complete overhaul in our offensive philosophy would require QB recruitment and development, along with the other skill positions, which would overcome not having an NFL caliber line, I'm sure we are damned if we do, or damned if we don't.
This program is being held together with strings right now. Both coaches on both sides of the field knew exactly what was going to happen Saturday night. Don't kid yourself, we were never competing in that game.
LSU is not going to risk its standing, especially with the likely financial implications, to chase a likely unattainable goal.

No we got shut the frick out because we were running play action passes when we were negative in the rushing yardage.
what fricking idiot would bite on a play fake against a team with negative rushing yardage
Then you run another one on your own 4 fricking yard line ''Stop with the o line bullshite there are ways to scheme around it, Troy did it and beat us, SOuth Eastern did it and hung with LSU longer than they should have, Multiple teams have done it and not got shut out by Bama, and in past years ahve beaten Bama

I think with the right OC qb recruitment and development can be done quite fast

NO THAT IS 100% IMPOSSIBLE YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY WE HAD 12 YARDS RUSHING AND LESS THAN 200 TOTAL YARDS AND 0 POINTS YOUR JUST MISERABLE GO CHEER FOR SOMEONE ELSE
I think that about covers it
I think that about covers it

That kind of OC isn't coming to LSU as anything less than a HC, and I wouldn't blame him.
Why would he, just to get here and not be able to run his offense?
No disrespect intended, but you're living in a dream world.

I agree 100% The O-Line has got to be the biggest problem area on this team. We have ZERO tackles in the starting line up. LSU is playing with 5 overweight guards and are getting whipped at the point of attack. If we are going to get better, a true left tackle needs to be on the field. I know the Juco guy was brought in and it looks like he is struggling and we hear that Rosenthal will be good but he is not ready. Maybe now that we have 4 games left, he can get on the field some and still maintain his redshirt. Who knows, with the way the line is playing now, he might be an upgrade. At least, he cannot be any worse! Sack, Sack, Sack,Sack!!!!!!

Ensminger tried this. The problem is those are constraint plays designed to punish a defense for being overly aggressive. But Bama wasn’t being overly aggressive. They were disciplined and played us straight up. That is why we need an OC with the imagination to come up with a scheme better than what the average guy on Tigerdroppings can think up.

LSU’s OL vs. Bama’s DL?
not for a whole game no... you have to get lucky. you also have to do a ton of trick plays, basically anything to put them into a position where they are on their heels... we tried that with tempo, it didnt work.. you have to execute...everything...

Do you think Missouri, ole miss, Arkansas, ULL, etc all have less of a mismatch at OL against Alabama than Lsu does?

I mean Everyone but has has scored on Bama and some in the first half. We had a perfect opportunity to put up points before half and go in down 9-3 or 9-7 then get the ball to start the second half, but we couldn't. 12 rushing yards is embarrassing and when it isn't working why do you keep letting their D-line go north south? Make them go east and west.

I mean he scores points though. That's all I'm pointing out. They suck on defense, but he can score
