Divinity just had a kid so hopefully the light switch has come on for him.

He will leave his junior year and not get drafted now

I expect our front seven to be one of the best in the country. Can't wait to see them wreak havoc this season.

DL and ILB will be top 3 in the SEC, but I am worried about OLB. Chassion struggled, Divinity, and Thornton all struggled holding the edge in the run game last year. Hopefully another year under their belt will help, but this can be a major weakness that many teams will exploit.

I think another year will undoubtedly help and our OLBs will end up being a strength

The defense will be unstoppable. If White stays healthy, he could easily be the best defensive player in all of college football.

There is a clear difference in ED O as the head coach making recruiting decisions and the ED O as the recruiting coordinator where Les Miles made the final decisions.

People that want to blame O for the lack of depth really need to examine the situation more closely. As soon as Ed took over, he made the lines a priority... meaning that he was diverting from the path established by Miles.
And people [conveniently] forget one thing, CEO was named LSU recruiting coordinator in late Feb/early March of 2016; as we all know he was named interim later that year. So he did not have a signing day, much less a full recruiting cycle as RC. It's fashionable to say "yeah, well, who was RC before Les was fired- BOOM", it's misleading. And he did forego visits as HC, just in case, through most of the 2016 season/cycle. Minor point there, because he did take them as soon as being named full time.

Front 7 will be dominant. I'm placing alot of faith in the position coaches to bring some of that youth along that did struggle last year. I saw someone mention setting edges- yes, it was horrible. It was obvious they did not understand positioning and leverage. However, that's an experience and coaching issue. Experience is there (or alot of it), and as stated above I have faith in the position coaches and Aranda; I do think DJ is a downgrade from Jenkins, but almost anyone would be and it's not like we had a choice.

I think by the end of the year, maybe mid-season, they will be talking about our LB squad as one of the best in the nation. Along the lines of what we've heard about past Bama squads (or to us middle-aged football fans: like the used to talk about USC). There is that much talent across the board in that position. Obviously, led by White (who will elevate the lot of 'em), but not limited to him. Having Shelvin and the upgrade across the front will also make the LB squad that much better. I expect to see Aranda use them in much more versatile ways that will bring both the press and increase their effectiveness/contribution.

Not if the offense scores more.

The offense will score more, and the defense will yield more. More possessions mean more opportunity- all the way around. Nothing helps a defense more than an offense that takes the air out of the ball.

Or it could mean more opportunities for the defense to set up the offense with good field position. Just because the opposing offense gets more opportunities doesn't mean they're going to score more.

LSU should be very strong up the middle (barring injury, of course) Lawrence, Fehoko and Alexander are better than Lacoture, Gilmore, Herron. Those guys had moments, but weren't elite players. This year's front line has the potential to be. Behind them White could be the best all around ILB since Kelvin Sheppard, if not better. If the front line is a good as we hope, then White could have a year like Kevin Minter...only White is even more talented than Minter. Beside White LSU should, at minimum, have some strength to handle the inside play. Alexander was just too small to battle inside. Taylor/Phillips have the size. On the back end you return significant experience (Battle) and emerging talent (Delpit).

The edges are the key. Chassion and Moore looked great in the spring game. But the spring game isn't always the best indicator of success in the regular season. If they can become factors on the edge, then this could be the best front 7 LSU has had since 2012

I hope the secondary can grow up fast because outside of Greedy there isn't another Superstar back there

And at this time last year did you know Greedy was going to be a superstar? Someone will step up.
