Holy shite...an actual thread where LSU was discussed objectively, mild disagreements were there yet adults acted like adults and not one single melt was to be found. I didn't think these were possible anymore.

Why is making the tourney a big deal when a team has zero chance of winning it.

For some reason top 64 is success in basketball and a New Year’s Day Bowl vs ND is a failure.

Not being sarcastic. Just an observation.

You serious? If LSU makes the NCAA tourney then Will Wade deserves SEC and National Coach Of the Year awards. This team was picked to finish last in the SEC and is coming off of a terrible season last year.

Making the tournament is where the bar is set for LSU basketball, as is the case for 95% of the other college basketball programs. If every team who got in didn't play because they had no chance of winning, it wouldn't be called march MADNESS

Because making the tournament is an accomplishment for a team picked to go last in the SEC, and tournament play is good experience for our players.

Looking like the Citrus bowl again. Still don't see how Bama got in though, they have 4 losses!

I understand that it is an accomplishment for THIS team this year.
My point is that I’m football, the only thing that matters is winning it all. Everything else is failure.
Basketball is not like that it seems.
Just the way the perception has developed I suppose.

Solid ranter logic right there. I don't think our fans can grasp the concept of how hard it is to win a national championship. Basketball isn't anywhere close to football, in terms of the number of teams who can win it. Just getting into the tournament is very difficult.

If we can win one of the next two road games against ranked opponents, I think it will put us in a position to make a run.

With the inconsistency this team has shown, I have no idea what to expect. But I do think they are capable of beating any team in the league.

RPI moved up from 100 to 81 this morning. Still lots of work left to do and the next 4 are against top 26 and above RPI teams. Slim odds but the games are there for the taking to move up if we can string together Michigan and Arkansas type of game performances.

Can we...yes. Will we, I think it's going to be tough. We seem to win the games we're not supposed to and lose the games we probably have a better chance of winning.

Is it really that difficult of a concept to comprehend. For one, the state of the two programs is totally different. The perceptions of both teams entering their respective seasons is totally different.

Basketball won 10 games last year, 2 in conference. It's a pretty big jump to go from 10 wins to tourney team. Football going from 8-4 to 9-4 is the difference in 1 cancelled game. And the "New Year's Day" moniker isn't exactly what it used to be for bowl games.

So IF basketball makes the tourney it shows massive improvement from '16-'17 to '17-'18, while football showed little to none over the previous season.

Would be HUGE if that happens.

RPI:
Auburn - 9
Tennessee - 13
Florida - 26

LSU - 81

Not my logic. I think the whole “win it all or it’s a failure” is ridiculous.
It makes the whole season relatively miserable and we have some truly miserable fans.
