That's not all on DE. You can thank our O line and OC for that. Quick short to intermediate pass plays were what needed to be called. He wasn't exactly set up to succeed.

I don't blame the Oline for when Etling was holding the ball too long. That was all on Etling or the play call, but it was mostly Etling.

Etling was awful. There is no defense of his play.

It would have been a risk to make the switch, but maybe it would have paid off? Simple fact is we don't know.

I would have liked to have seen them try something, but that is easy for me to say sitting in the stands.

There are NO tackles on the current line. None. Is that not a problem. Doesn't matter what 'competition' they have, none can get the job done. Need better players. End of discussion.

Of course, and it shouldnt be limited to Harris and Etling.

The new regime will bring in their own offense and I'm sure every QB on the roster will get a chance.

Why would HE be mad? 15 starts isn't enough time?

No....15 starts is not enough under a completely incompetent and schitty QB developing regime.

We NEVER played to his skill set..EVER....which is more of a read option type of offense. Now I realize even with a scheme change suited for him, he still would suck at short/medium range passes, but to dismiss him so completely without giving another coaching staff a chance to reinvent him is wrong IMO.

The fact that people use history to justify not playing his is also comical. Etling's history was so bad he got passed by another backup who got passed up on the depth chart at Purdue. He needed a new home for a reason.

His past is as bad or worse than Harris' with weaker competition in the Big 10 at the time. Facts are facts. I like O, but he does what people called out Miles for, then bring on the next guy. Harris had 1 TD and 1 INT at Bama and Etling had 0 TD's and 1 INT at home. The same reasons that people wanted Harris pulled for, they're now arguing against those same things because they like Etling the person so much.

Also, you wanted to see us pass laterally? We did that and that's why Bama was able to shrink the field. Etling is no better than Harris overall and provides a much, much lower ceiling. Etling has shown his best football and it's behind him against weaker competition. Neither is great but we could've seen if change could provide a hot hand.

Etling may look ok to finish out, but that is still not going to cut it going forward. So glad to have another debate next year about Brennan and Narcisse.

Yeah, putting in Harris would have been your high risk/high reward scenario, but I would have been okay with it because it was pretty clear before the 4th quarter that we weren't going to move the ball against Alabama.

harris shoulda played vs bama about halfway through the 3rd quarter at the latest. that's my biggest indictment of orgeron last saturday. etling fricking sucked arse. missed every meaningful throw he attempted. fricking garbage.

At the end of the day, If Harris is not a D1 QB, then neither is Etling. One is a better deep passer and is a better runner than the other. One is better at completing short passes, but cannot escape the pocket to save his life or complete passes over 15 yards consistently.

Go with the guy whose best assets provides the biggest opportunity against the current opponent. Neither QB have proven that they can handle a whole season starting so far. Only solution to not having 1 complete QB at the moment.

If O can't figure it out, then I would support the coaching change. He has to prove that he can get an offense to affect Bama and every team that other big team will try to mimic. The offense we had yesterday won't get us where we want to be and he's starting to sound like that's the type of offense he wants to keep.

the fact is, Etling has outplayed Harris this year. Regardless of what Harris did last year vs Bama or what Etling did at Purdue. Neither are great but that is the fact. Etling has outplayed Harris.

Scott, Harris, McMillan... Just pick one. I don't care who. Just move the ball down the field.
