I'm a business man and I negotiate for a living. I make or accept offers all the time and I've heard, though it's a bit out dated, the term piece of the pie my whole life.

At first blanch, yes the tape sounds bad but it is soooooooooooo easily explainable that it defies logic that it has caused this much drama.

Every, and I mean every scholarship athlete in the country receives "offers". Bama offers the best football players in Louisiana every year.

Coaches have to pitch their athletic program, school, environment, etc...

The PIE is that team's playing time and offering a kid from Baton Rouge a full scholarship to LSU with a guarantee to see significant playing time as a freshman is a strong arse offer.

Of course his attorney is not letting him speak about it but he is not in serious legal jeopardy because this is the most explainable bullshite any defense attorney has ever had to deal with from an FBI wiretap

Well that depends on what other information they have.

Which is why his attorney has told him to say nothing until they try to figure out what else is out there. He does not want him to start “explaining” if they have information that can be used to disprove the explanation.

I agree with everythjng you said, but the real issue that he has to explain here is why the frick he was talking to Christian Dawkins about this information.

That is what is going to be tough to explain imo.

I don't know what the other team "offered" that tilted it toward "taking care" of the Mom, perhaps you should ask Calipari and he should be suspended out of an abundance of caution...

Did you listen to the wiretap tape? Did you read the official FBI wire tap transcript?

Or, did you just read the account of an alleged event penned by a journalist hack?

The devil is in the details. That’s why it’s so stupid to suspen Wade or hold out any player until all the FACTS are at your disposal.

No it's not, he has known Dawkins for years from before he was a head coach and he's a friend, he was venting to a friend, not hard to explain at all

Moms want the education to be important and want assurance that the university will watch over the kid and keep him out of trouble. Offers are pitched to the mama all the time.

I want it explained away, believe me i certainly do. But it’ll be hard to reconcile the “tilted to mom and the family” part of the offer. It’ll also be tough when you include the comments to the effect of JS getting essentially the rookie minimum. Add to that the part about putting together other deals which were much easier than this one. And why does one need to go through a “handler” to extend a full scholarship offer? Every team would’ve been offering that. Yes all schools do it, but it sounds like LSU had the misfortune of getting caught- like UK years ago when the US Mail accidentally ripped open the shoebox full of cash intended for a recruit.

You can put together an offer of guaranteed playing time for the kid etc. parents and kids have concerns of sitting on the bench and not playing. You can certainly make guarantees that are permissible.

Some of what will wade was saying may have just been “puffery” and exaggerating things as well.

The problem is that he has a chance to explain to the LSU admin exactly what the conversation was about and say that nothing against the rules occurred and if that was credible he would be coaching tonight.

But he has not done that and has not left them a lot of choices.

Again, we don't have to explain or reconcile that, John Calipari does.

Because every blue chip in the country has one, they deal with recruiters and coaches every year...

Why are you holding Will Wade to a standard that doesn't exist?

I'm not a defense attorney but we have a few on here, ask them if they'd allow Wade, if he was their client, to speak with Joe Alleva and F. Cover Our arse and Lie about conversations with govenor to do it Alexander about this situation...?

Your evidence otherwise?

Dawkins offered no assistance, no suggestions and they discussed no actions moving forward in what was still an open recruiting opportunity...

Absolutely, more importantly I don't believe you can prove otherwise in a court of law...
