How is that working out for them?

Theyve got as many championships as Miles had at LSU in the same time frame.

Yesterday on the pre game show Doug morrow and detillier both said coach o can go 8-0 and there's noway he's getting the job. I also heard a writer that covers Houston and Herman say if LSU offers Herman the job he's taking it without a doubt. These two comments tell me that chances are we have our guy and are just waiting until his season is over.

Was this before or after the Texas game yesterday?

Before Texas went final around 4:40 to be exact. Also heard that there's something going on at Texas that's turning a lot of coaches off something about boosters having too much control and that Herman would come here over Texas. Same guy who made the comment about him taking this job without a doubt.

My opinion is if we can't get Herman I'm happy with coach o. I don't want fedora or whittingham or kiffin or Mullen. Coach o bleeds purple and gold we have a strong staff already here he's gonna get the right oc and he's gonna try desperately to win for lsu. This is his dream and he's gonna do whatever it takes for is to win games. I love the guy I just think the admin wants a proven winner and a young star who can lead us into the future. Herman is exactly that.

Yes. It's almost like he's an interim coach while we figure out what direction we're gonna go...

It depends on how ugly those losses are.
It depends on what O's plans are if hired. I am sure that he would have to articulate a vision for the direction of the program: maybe hiring a particular type of offensive coordinator, plans for upgrading the staff (like possibly canning Moffitt or Peveto).
This can't be an emotional hire or a "feel good" hire.

Ok

The conversation is about Orgeron. Try to keep up.

We really have nothing but good problems at this point. Coach O could run the table get the job (which would be awesome), or he loses a couple and we get a badass new coach. Either way, good things are in store for us.

It's complicated and difficult, especially considering we're looking at long term.

When Saban wanted to come back to LSU, Miles had just gone 11-2 in back to back seasons with a Sugar Bowl win, en route to a BCS national championship the following year. Following his championship at LSU, Saban went 9-3 with losses to Auburn and Iowa and getting pounded by Georgia the following season, followed by a miserable NFL failure and firing at Miami.

In hindsight, it would probably have been better to take Saban back over Miles, despite Miles having achieved the equivalent of O running the table this year. It's a tough thing to do, but in the end, you have to go with the best option for long term stability and success.

O is not coaching for the job. He's coaching to be CONSIDERED for the job. He's coaching for the right to be the default choice if jimbo or Herman decline. If he does well, then we don't have to look into the fedoras or petrino's or kiffins.

Yes, we should consider O if he rights the ship (looked awesome so far). I would say a 6-2 type year puts him in the hunt.

If he has a good year, I would take him if Herman and Jimbo say no. I would take him over Kiffin.

One caveat: he has to hire a good OC (and keep Aranda). I think he can do Miles job (RC), and let his DC and OC coach (what Miles couldn't do). He would be a CEO style coach (like what Miles should have been). He's also a good motivator and a good coach in general.

I agree it would be better to have an elite offensive or defensive mind rather than a CEO style coach, but I would say he's in the hunt depending on what Herman and Jimbo do. Coach O would be a big improvement over Miles, if he can maintain recruiting, can keep a good DC in place, and hire a good OC.

The point I keep making is that people are selling Orgeron out before he gets started.

Herman still hasn't proved much on a big stage. So for people that wants a body of work, his is thin.

Fisher is not a slam dunk. If all of the rumors of last year are true he just might have gotten his fingers burned dealing with the LSU administration. Would you want to jump into that circus?

My point is that Orgeron is in place, and after last night showing his managerial skills. I would think that he would have to fail to be removed.

Instead of wishing for the super model we might never get, why not cuddle up to the date we have?

Depends on how hot the date is. Also there is no harm in asking the supermodel out... if she says no we can just ask out another one.

You have a date that is "doing it", but isn't flashy enough.

So you keep asking supermodel after super model until the date you have gets pissed and just walks away and you wind up with the bag lady that hangs out in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

He's an interim head coach.

The point I keep making is that you could take any other coach on this staff, promote them to the interim position, and every single LSU fan would write them off, saying that they (rightfully) don't have a shot at the job.

Peveto wouldn't be given a chance. Neither would Ensminger. Or Cameron. Take any of those coaches, and put them at the interim spot - regardless of their record as the interim head coach, the LSU fans wouldn't want any of them to remain as the permanent head coach of this program.

So why are you and a few other fans treating Orgeron any differently? Why is this an "audition" for Orgeron, whereas any other coach on this staff that was promoted to the interim position wouldn't even have a shot at being considered?

I've stated that if Orgeron wins out, including a SEC Championship, then you give him the job. I would still be anxious about what the future would hold, but if wins a conference title this year, he makes his case.

Until that happens, you conduct an actual coaching search instead of waiting to see if your defensive line coach pans out.

No, if you are a OT baller like LSU you can ask out whoever you want, and your cute date will still be there to fricke later that night at 3AM if you need a fallback.
