I think Quincy Carter had 1 incomplete pass the entire game in 1998.
he completed about 5 with Booger draped all over him. Quincy looked like Elway that night. frustrating to watch.

Wasn't Bradie James a Drop LB?

Lionel Thomas was the drop LB in 99, Bradie's fr. yr/ Tepper's last yr. Bradie may have taken over late in the yr.

I remembered see Bradie James and saying this guy sucked.
Then Tepper left and I had an "ah ha!" moment. Didn't he get drafted high in the NFL?

His defensive scheme was good enough to go into Gainesville in 1998 and pull out the win, but joe wesley couldn't catch a simple average speed pass thrown right at him. Everyone posting in this thread could have caught that ball.

Where is he now?

Here is something most Tiger fans can relate to--Tepper on defense was the equivilant to Gary Crowton on offense.
Much worse.
Gaping holes for opposing RB's on every play.

I remember the "drop" linebacker was such a big issue that the Advocate wrote an article called "Bubba in the drop zone" when Bubba Alexander was the starter in the position.
Tepper is probably not dumb - classic examples of not implementing the right scheme and coaching for the players you have.
Interesting how Terry Bowden did the reverse - nice job coaching with Bostic, S. Davis and the old school offense/defense. Then he recruited backs that were 5'7, 165 and destroyed himself.

As previously mentioned, The UGA and Kentucky games were maybe two of the toughest games to watch in LSU history. But the one thing about the Tepper tenure I will never forget was my drunk Ole Miss buddy, after the Rebels had thumped us, screaming "You keep Tepper, we'll win for epper." The last thing I remember about those days was beating the holy shite out of Arkansas the week after they were both fired.

Imagine Curley Hallman as head coach, Lou as DC and Crowton as OC

I remember that at Nick Saban's first press conference after being hired in 1999, he was asked by one reporter/sportswriter whether his defense would be similar to Tepper's since they both came from the Big 10. After looking at the guy somewhat disdainfully, Saban simply said something to the effect that "I have a difference from him in my basic defensive philosophy".

Don't break until they score, which could be at anytime now.
