I think you are right, but he won't see the sucess he saw at FSU just because of competion in the SEC. I'm also not as confident as most on this board after last years debacle from LSU.

They return an overrated defense.

Good offenses could score on them

Alabama - 52
Florida 38

Hell Arkansas dropped 31.
They dodged Ole Miss completely, which would have been a shootout and they got us with true freshmen.

If our offense is functional well put up point on them.

For LSU, talent is here. They have plenty of returning starters. The issue with LSU will hinge on their coordinators. Was both good hires? Can't get worse on defense so that has nowhere to go up. We don't know what we have with either. Jones was a very underwhelming hire but it may turn into the smartest hire.

I think how they replace Elko will be huge. So many things preceded this at FSU so it's not considered as big a deal, but losing Jeremy Pruitt and replacing him with Charles Kelly absolutely killed them. It was what allowed Clemson to pass them and led to their downfall.

A&M is building a strong program but it's largely on the backs of their defense.

Exactly. UCLA will be a great test to open with. How the team looks from a preparation standpoint and assignment wise will tell us how the season may play out.

I liked A&M so much better when they were in the Southwest and Big 12. Loved playing them every year first game. Now it just seems forced.

They have huge alumni and student bases. The pubs sell more mags hyping them. Therefore, they are way over rated. They had a good Covid year, so their fans delusionally are like Texas - they think they have turned some magical corner, and that it projects that they are now to be feared. It's hilarious and delusional. They do have a favorable schedule. I'll give em that.

I cant. The past couple years haven't been much different. To me it seems like TAMU falls under the category of teams that the media wants to be better than they are simply because the money their fan base brings in.

Kellen Mond has had more preseason hype every year than he deserved too. You aren't going to the SEC Championship with Kellen Mond behind center. Just look at his stats and compare them to our worst season in decades. Jimbo's vanilla offense probably didn't help his case which is why TAMU needs an elite QB to make up for the coach's inefficiencies.

Kellen Mond College Stats
LSU 2020 Stats

Think about this, against us last year Kellen Mond only threw for 105 yards, rushed for 27 yards, 0 TD's, and had a 32.4% completion rate. That's should tell you a few things right there.

Exactly. This is not a rivalry. Just another conference game. I never even pay attention to them unless it is game day vs the Little Brother Aggies.

They have a good DC but outside that, they really need to prove consistency. It's mostly based on the assumption Jimbo has the ship righted with them which I don't think this is true. They lost too many players. I think they're going back to same ole mediocre TAMU again this year unless they can do better than expected at QB.

It mostly hinges on offense I believe as their DC has been pretty consistent. It's actually funny they went in hard to fix their defense problems and did a good job there yet that's not their problem. Their problem is Jimbo's offensive philosophy and his inability to develop them a QB. As long as he keeps the same offensive philosophy, it's not going to work. He needs to evolve his scheme with NCAA.

i agree with a lot of this... they have a very good DC but Jimbo hasn't evolved, he still wants to run a "pro style" offense. aggressive defenses will give him fits... always have... I think they take a step back to where they were this year, but they are confident, so USCe or someone needs to beat them early to knock their confidence or they can ride it all the way to the harder parts of their schedule... the players do believe in Jimbo which is big.. but they still have to execute on the field, which i don't think they will if someone hits them in the mouth... if our defense plays ultra aggressive (as they should always) it will be another blood bath like the year before last...

They have Mizzou and USCe out the East, play Auburn, Bama, MSST, and Arkansas in Texas. Only go on the road in conference to OM and LSU. I still see 3 losses there.....

False. They go on the road to mizzou. People are expecting mizzou to be competitive too. Wouldn’t be surprised to see mizzou beat A&M.

The west comes down to Alabama , A&M and LSU. The rest are pretenders.

It would be so much more fun if we played A&M every year to open SEC play and got Arkansas back to Black Friday or just had a bye/cupcake to end the season.

They'll be a defensive powerhouse, and have an excellent running game. And they catch Bama at home.

Don't be shocked if the SEC West boils down to the final game of the regular season: Aggy @ LSU.
