Serious question. Maybe I skipped class that day, so a brief refresher would be appreciated.

I think it started back in 1969

Archie hates LSU. So why should the Rant support the Manning's? No Manning will ever play for LSU.

"It's unbelievable that that could happen to a team that was 9-1," Manasseh said recently. "That team would have won the national championship if it would have gotten a chance to play for it." The Tigers' only loss that season was 26-23 to Ole Miss and quarterback Archie Manning in Jackson, Mississippi. And McClendon thought LSU was going to play for the national championship in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1, 1970, against either No. 2 Texas or No. 4 Arkansas.

But the biggest regret was LSU's 26-23 loss to Manning and Ole Miss. At undefeated to Notre Dame's loss and a tie, the Tigers would have gotten the bid to the Cotton Bowl.

Archie played for Ole Miss at a time they were relevant and had a rivalry with LSU. He was drafted #2 by the NO Saints and had to live in a city that was mostly LSU and not much Ole Miss. Hid kids went to SEC schools that were not LSU and didn't even entertain LSU as a choice. Now his grandson will choose another school (probably Texas or Bama) despite the fact that he is now a 2nd generation Louisiana native. That is the history.

Brief and concise. Thank you.

Besides Arch Manning, did LSU try to recruit any of the other Mannings? If they did, how hard did they go after them?

Can I get a history lesson on The Rant's Manning family hatred?
-Archie Manning was born in Drew, Mississippi. Archie went on to play for Ole Miss, a hated rival of LSU.
-Archie was then drafted by the New Orleans Saints. Saints fans welcomed Archie with open arms. Archie then went on to reside in the Garden District. Archie had three boys, Cooper, Peyton, and Eli.
-Despite being born and raised in Louisiana, Cooper Manning went to Ole Miss, a hated rival of LSU.
-Despite being born and raised in Louisiana, Peyton Manning went to Tennessee.
-Despite being born and raised in Louisiana, Eli Manning went to Ole Miss, a hated rival of LSU.
-Thereafter, Cooper Manning had a son, Arch Manning. Arch Manning is an elite quarterback recruit.
-Despite being born and raised in Louisiana, Arch Manning will go to either: Texas, Georgia, Ole Miss, or Alabama, and not LSU.
-In sum, the Mannings feel that they are too good and "above" LSU. Hence, the Manning family hatred.

Three, don't forget about Cooper.

Archie played at Ole Miss
Peyton played at Tennessee
Eli Played at Ole Miss
I don’t hate them and always cheered
On the other in their professional careers (except when playing the saints) but as LSU fans why wouldn’t we hate them?

I like the Mannings. They’re all pretty awesome. Much of the butthurtia here stems from none of them coming to LSU.

Yep, I knew all this, but framing it in bullets somehow drives it home a bit better. Thanks.
